Just a note...I made a mistake while talking outside Max's location. This location was the end of The Velvet Underground, not the New York Dolls (who also played here often). Thanks, Maggie

Glad you enjoyed it! I have seen recently that the Asian restaurant where Max's was located has closed down so you're not able to walk inside at the moment. I loved seeing it. Max's was always legendary to me.

Thank you Margaret for this video and stories! Went there last month (April 2024) because of Patti Smith pilgrimage haha and it was permanently closed, just saw the bare wooden furniture and floor. Glad that you showed the interior and the top level, now I can picture it fully! :)

That's interesting. So the Asian food place where Max's was located is closed? So glad you liked my video! That space is so historic.

There's this great documentary on Max's on YT's 'Amplified', maybe you already watched it but it's a great docu! With Alice Cooper (he played there for a while too) and Jayne County, Billy Idol (who played there at the last evening of Max's existence) he loved the place cause all of his heroes played there and he loved the Kansas City album of the Velvets too (+ many others told their story about the place) That documentary is part of a trilogy ('Looking For Johnny' is about Johnny Thunders, 'Stiv' is about Stiv Bators from Dead Boys, + this Max's Kansas City doc.) They're all directed by Danny Garcia, and all 3 are amazingly well researched! Keep up the good work Margaret, I love your videos, they're very inspiring! Groetuitholland! ☮💥

Great video. I am a big fan of Andy Warhol due to the scene at the factory. He was so far ahead of his time it is unreal. Also a big Velvet Underground fan and they were also so far ahead of their time. Songs about Candy Darling and Sister Ray are as relevant today as they were when they were written.

Thanks for watching! I loved him too and we still play the VU at home. That music never gets old. Glad you liked the video. :)

@@WhyNotGoPlacesMe too, I love to play guitar with certain albums o/t Velvets. (the 1st. one with the Warhol Banana cover + Loaded + some compilations) I got the 'Green Banana' album too, with 'Waiting For The Man' as a folk song, etc. It's more like 'first try out versions' very raw, and totally different. John Cale wasn't into folk music, while Lou was maybe still in his Dylan period, or maybe still doing his songs in the style he wrote music for the Pickwick label mid '60s.. The Yellow Banana album is an absolute gem, and I'm glad it turned out the way it is! Rough, raw, and punky.. 😜🤟

I wonder if that picture of Sid, Lemmy and Nancy was taken at Max's
