    This game has so much 1 player content it’s crazy! I loved the character’s art and how you can tell they were younger because they are all looking up and hopefully in the way they draw them! My brother and I had the PS version and it felt like we were playing in the arcade. The music is A1 and the announcer! “You can’t give it up.. Ready!Go for broke” was one of my favorite expressions. I even use to say bye to my friends like Charlie does. lol Man this is the best Alpha to me.

    This is why SF6 feels so satisfying. It's like reliving the glory days when Capcom was at it's zenith. The World Tour Mode in 6 had me worried at first. At first glance it didn't look all that appealing. But playing the beta hyped me up to 10. Can't wait for the 2nd.

    @@dnmstarsi It's really not. They usually came out cheaper. Also, you could wait for a price cut. Also, it doesn't get "turned off" some years later. I will take them over scammy DLC anytime. Besides you now pay much more for them with characters going for 10 euros or dollars and seasons having 4 or more. You can buy a season pass instead for like 30 for each season, which basically is way less value than what you'd get with a new version.

  • @dnmstarsi

    @dnmstarsi

    @@NemXX2 No, it really is once you take a step back and think about both pros and cons as well as the fact that DLC is a practice often misused by companies to the point where a lot of folks think that DLC equals scam or content that "should've been in the base game" or w.e. whiny nonsense. Really, a lot of enhanced versions cost around the same price as the base game and even then, DLC tends to be content people are willing to pay additional for because the base game is pretty good and people want to see more of that from said game. The magic of DLC is stuff people would like, be interested in or get some conversation going and spark up attention.

    Hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *gasp* hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha… No. Nononononononononono. Also, no. You’re talking absolute nonsense. This is back when you paid full price for what’s essentially a balance patch (the things we get for free these days) and a single season pass. FULL PRICE! Not $4.99 per character or $24.99 for the season pass. FULL FUCKING PRICE!! Let’s see. SFII you have 8 characters AND zero mirror matches (except when you pick Ken and Ryu, cause they’re basically the same character in that game). Then put comes SFII:CE (For full price btw) and what does buying a new game at full price get you? A balance patch, the ability to have mirror matches, and the ability to play as the 4 boss characters who were already in the previous game but just not playable… so, basically all that shit should be free except for arguably the 4 new characters that you could reasonably sell for $4.99 a pop and that’s roughly 1/3 of FULL FUCKING PRICE. Then you have SF2 Turbo… this is just a balance patch, moveset update, and the ability to increase the game speed (in today’s standards that’s all free) and it’s sold for FULL FUCKING PRICE. Then there’s Super SF2. That’s a Balance patch and 4 DLC characters sold for… what was it again *checks notes* oh yeah FULL FUCKING PRICE. Not, you know, $4.99 a character which would’ve been about 1/3 of FULL FUCKING PRICE. Then there’s Super SF2 Turbo which is….. just a balance patch with 1 DLC character (Akuma). How much was this sold for again… hold on I have it written down here somewhere… *reada notes*… oh, yeah, that’s right FULL FUCKING PRICE. “But that’s SF2 you’re talking about, not alpha.” You say. Okay, lol. Alpha isn’t as bad as SF2, but it’s still pretty fucking bad. Alpha 1 has 13 Characters and is a different game than SF2. Okay, cool, full price for a new game instead of glorified DLC + a balance patch. Not so bad. Alpha 2 has all 13 characters plus 6 new characters, a balance patch, and updated mechanics (read: now you can use your meter for custom combos instead of supers and this is the only new mechanic… this would be a free update.). Alpha 2 is basically a balance patch, 6 DLC characters, and a mechanic update (like how in DBFZ there was a FREE update that gave you the option to pick from 3 different assists or some of SFV’s COMPLETELY FREE updates changed some mechanics or added some) but instead you would have to pay… um… hold on a second I have it written here somewhere… FULL FUCKING PRICE for a balance patch, new universal mechanic, and 6 DLC characters. Call me crazy, but I would much rather pay $25-$30 for a season pass and have the balance patch and new mechanic added for free. Alpha 3 has 35 characters (the first home version released after arcade). And, yeah, that’s fair. That’s a good 16 characters added, a balance patch, new mechanics, a bunch of new modes to play, etc. so, fullfuckingprice… is okay. Sure, whatever fine. But then there’s the GBA version that adds in 3 new characters and you gotta pay full price. There isn’t even a balance patch this time. And the PSP version that adds in an additional one more character to the game for full price, but who the fuck wants to play this on GBA or PSP? So, okay, sure, Alpha 3 is legitimately a very good deal given they pretty much doubled the roster since last time, but I mean it’s not exactly balanced and a lot of the characters added are clones or pallet swaps. But overall, Alpha 3 is probably the best deal compared to the previous game. 16 new characters would run you far more than full price these days. This doesn’t mean that you are right though. Cause Alpha 3 is an outlier honestly. Most games back then were basically just a DLC pass, a balance patch, and minor mechanic added being shipped and sold for full price and in the modern day you would only pay for the DLC and it would be no where near the full price of the game. Everything else would be free.

    Apparently, the reason World Tour was the way it was in the DC ver is because WT characters are effectively put in a 4th Ism, “I-Ism”. You could then save your I-Ism character on the VMU, then load them up on the Naomi version of Alpha 3 Upper, then fight other I-Ism characters on arcades. (I could be very wrong here, so just take all of this with a grain of salt.)

  • @KetsubanSolo

    @KetsubanSolo

    That's basically correct. MvC2's Japanese Dreamcast release exacerbated this by requiring you to play in the Arcades to chip away at unlocking the extra characters. Thank God for Capcom releasing a special edition VMU with a 100% savefile on it (and people who dumped/archived it)

    Dude, I grinded this mode on PSX back in the day. I remember doing an all perfect combat Bison build because I suspected at some point they would give me the insane ism he has as final boss with the full screen Psycho Drive if I perfected him on world tour, the scum saving grind was real. Unfortunately I didn't get the boss ism, but holy shit was my Bison build so beautiful. One thing I realized is that the sound effects in PSX weren't as low quality as here or that's what I think, I haven't played this on emulator so I might be wrong, but I don't remember the announcer sound so muffled. Also, they added hit effects with 3d lightning in the PSX version pretty much like CVS had, it's a pity they didn't do it in this version.

    The Saturn version of Street Fighter Zero 3 may be the best home version ever. I never owned it. I had the game in Dreamcast. The two games are identical, but the Saturn controller is the perfect pad for Street Fighter. I had to import an ASCII Fight Pad FT for my Dreamcast to equal what the Saturn had on offer. ed. I also have Street Fighter Alpha 3 Double Upper/Street Fighter Alpha 3 Pro Max on the PSP. It has one or two additional characters, which makes it damn near the equal to the Saturn/Dreamcast version, but the controls aren’t as good because of the button layout and there are some load times to contend with. Still, it’s a stellar game in its own right.

    There are little things that I notice that make this different from the PlayStation version. The Saturn version has the echo sounds from the hits when you get counter hits and KOs. The PlayStation version doesn't have that. The PlayStation version when you get a win and do a pose fades out the music whilst the Saturn version the music just randomly stops. So both miss something from the Arcade port which obviously has the fade out music and the echo sound effects from Super counter hits and knockout hit. It maybe a nitpick but those small things matter to me because I actually love the soundtrack for this game. Also the sparks after being hit were slightly different in the PlayStation version and the Saturn version were arcade perfect. The PlayStation version could only show Blanka and Zangief's full win poses if they played in a mirror match whereas on Sega Saturn they had enough memory to put it in there. It makes me wonder if there was a fully arcade perfect port of this game? Probably in the Alpha Anthology port of the game I imagine but that version doesn't have the World Tour mode.

    I find the Dreamcast and PSP World Tour more fun, you can use all the upgrades you get and not just two or three, there is also more variety of fights like the fight against 2 Super Bisons and in the PSP version the upgrades are not limited only to the Wolrd Tour, they also give you for finishing other modes with the character you used in the WT. Another thing is that I prefer to play in Turbo 1, I think that way I can better appreciate the game and its animations.

Saturn port is my favorite version favoring slightly over the psp one mainly because the psp d pad was terrible 😞 j my opinion where as the Saturn model 2 controller is fantastic for fighting games. Also not many people mention this or maybe they don’t know but even though alpha 3 max does technically have reverse dramatic battle, you don’t play against every character in the game the same way the Saturn version does so it’s not as great of a version of reverse dramatic battpe

    Hell yeah dude World Tour was on the Dreamcast version, I played that till I maxed out Ken with all the crazy buffs and cancels, that was so fun. Then they released the Alpha collection on PS2 and Alpha 3 didn't have any of the fun modes, that was really disappointing. Fortunately the PSP release was basically the same as the DC with all the modes and new characters too.

    World tour matches was all about getting as many points as well so you could levels for X/A/V bars as you progressed and you actually had to plan it. Like for Akuma I would get a few levels on v bar but try and max x and z because of the stats it provides

    To this day; the Saturn version is the best version of Zero (yes even better than the Dreamcast version). It has the best dramatic battle in which you can pick any 2 characters against the entire roster of the game, the best world tour mode and the controls have the best input. I still want them to re-release this version on a compilation for the Switch and the rest of the consoles.

    @OmniCloud The content and characters in that version feel tacked on and less polished than this version. Eagle and Maki are literally ripped from SNK vs Capcom; where this version the affected characters were made from scratch and had fuller animations. Though I would appreciate a version that combined the PSP and Saturn version.

  • @xOmniCloudx

    @@enriquepinero707 The new content consists of game modes, 3 sprite rips (Maki, Eagle and Yun) of CvS2 and the addition of Ingrid. Literally every version of Alpha 3 added new modes with new gimmicks so bizarre argument to have so that leaves you with the sprite ones. CvS in general mostly ripped sprites from Alpha 3 to begin with so it's actually funny that they went and did it in reverse that time but is ultimately in line with the time period of those games. I like it as a nice throwback of the time period myself. Outside the rips, the characters were reworked entirely to fit into ALL of the Alpha 3 systems and modes properly which is insane given the sheer amount of content that existed in Vanilla arcade Alpha 3 to begin with. On top of game them bios, story mode sequences, special intros with certain characters, and endings in line with all the other characters. So, I'm going to highly disagree that this is a sign of lack of polish when it's quite the opposite there. Plus, having additional characters to fight with is not a bad thing in a fighting game, especially when they play well so I find it bizarre to hold this against one just because you don't like sprite rips. Lastly, Ingrid was recreated from scratch, has the most animated sprite in the game on top of received the same level of system integration the sprite rips have. Seeing all that, I just can't agree with your point. The only thing the Saturn version has over PSP as a game, is that Saturn has the amazing World Tour of the PS1 version while PSP has the gimped version from the Dreamcast. What a bizarre move on Capcom's part there. But I don't care about world care enough as I play Alpha 3 as a fighter primarily so while unfortunate, something I can easily deal with. In terms of official releases, these days Saturn version is unobtainable for most due to insane price and the PSP has convoluted ways to fight other people. The PSP version also loads much faster so you get to matches and through modes quicker. Lastly, Saturn version has amazing 6 button controller and PSP version can only compete controller wise if using the Go and bluetooth PS3 sync which is too convoluted a way to do for most. So, emulation for both is the workaround to these issues for both versions in which case, PSP wins solidly as the only thing Saturn has over it is the better world tour mode.

    @@xOmniCloudx Saturn version actually has you play all the characters in reverse dramatic battle, psp version did not. Also dramatic battle is coop in the Saturn version not the psp version. Plus the psp d pad is horrible for fighting games so although that’s not an issue with alpha 3 max itself, the fact that the only legitimate way to play the game was with the psp d pad hurts it compared to the Saturn version where you can play with the terrific Saturn model 2 controller or an arcade stick. I’ve played all the versions extensively and own every version of the game and although I love the extra content alpha 3 max added, the port I go back to the most is the Saturn version.

  • @xOmniCloudx

    @xOmniCloudx

    @@stevesteve0521 Fair points about R Dramatic battle however, you can play co-op with a real person in the co op modes through ad-hoc. Sony even has an app that lets you turn it basically into online play so you can play with anyone in the world. I used it a few times years ago and not a bad experience. As for the controller option, as I described in my post you can legitimately get around that with official Sony hardware and have since the PSP Go came out since you can use DualShock 3 and Sixaxis to play PSP games with it. I think you can do it with Vita TV as well. When it comes to either version, emulation is the best way to play them now so seeing that, I rather play PSP. While not a problem with the Saturn version itself, unless you already have the Saturn version and the RAM cart, you're shelling out around 1k just to own Saturn version which is insane to most. For me it's PSP then Saturn but honestly, ALL the home versions of Alpha 3 are amazing, even the PS1 version since while the gameplay and visuals took a bit of a hit, it's still playable and it is chalked full of content as well. So you can't go wrong no matter what you do. Personal preference in the end I feel.
