    Good work, my man! What stood out to me about Max in this fight was how better he was prepared phisicaly than when he was fighting Dustin earlier. It looked like he was way more settled and that translated perfectly to his style of fighting. He looked like he used to look in 145 just a bit bigger and not that depraved. Perfect volume of his shoots, timing even better. Honorable mention goes to every time he has held a poker face after those nasty leg kicks. Maybe his future lies in 155. I am not that optimistic about possible Topuria bout at 145. I am just not. Keep 'em comin' Brendan! Cheers!

    I thought maybe the low spinning side kick was part of the gameplan for Max because of some tendency of Gaethje to duck his head

  • @BrendanDormanMMA

    @BrendanDormanMMA

    Yeah could’ve been, as Justin has “over developed” that tendency, but he’s been throwing it for 5+ years

    I think anothers big reason for max's success is how well he can take calf kicks. Anyone else would ultra compromised and limping well before the fifth round but max seemed to still have his footing and could even walk on his own after the fight. Thanks for the breakdown as usual brendan

    Like the pain management element? Seemed he was damaged but not moving like it, so that’s certainly worth noting. Justin’s broken nose was ultimately the difference maker if I had to name just one. Thanks as always, cheers 🍻

    @@BrendanDormanMMA i think the narrative around this fight was if gaethje landed clean that max was going down, but i thought the other way around. i was a bit surprised he hurt him as much as he did but i expected i pretty clear decision victory.

    Was hoping you’d do a break down of this fight. What do you think of people saying this version of Max beats Volk? Personally, assuming Volk isn’t broken from those two nasty KOs, I think he nullifies Max again. I’m surprised Gaethje wasn’t more successful.

  • @BrendanDormanMMA

    @BrendanDormanMMA

    Well this version was 155 too, but I disagree. It seems like a style thing more than anything, and I think Justin breaking his nose early had more effect than any other “X factor” if that makes sense?

    Awesome stuff. I personally enjoyed Jacked Max's uppercuts throught this fight. He just kept getting them through, i love a good uppercut. Does Jacked Max have a chance against Islam? His movement is so good, could he keep islam off him? Can he beat Islams striking? I hope ufc gives us that one day.

  • @BrendanDormanMMA

    I don’t think he can withstand Islam, nor hurt him before the ground clinic begins. For non-grapplers, it’s very difficult to “just have cardio” that translates from 5 rounds striking too 5 defending grappling and striking. I really love the nuance of Max striking and love a good ole guard splitter too, I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you
