@Apostate dawah a German Shepard or Rottweiler or any number of domestic dogs are more than capable of killing you and if we stopped feeding them canines would revert to wolf attitudes within a week. A very easy way to tell if something is an apex predator (at least on land) is if their eyes are based at the front of their head (cats, dogs and humans all share this quality as do birds of prey such as eagles and owls), most animals that are prey have their eyes on the sides of their heads to offer a greater field of vision to allow them the ability to flee. an apex predator is the dominant hunter within a ecosystem a thing which dogs are very capable of being (at least the large breeds, I’m not talking about those toy dogs people put in handbags) Also there’s the ridgeback a breed of dog used to hunt lions

because all small cats are the same. Unlike dogs, cats were never domesticated and are all "wild". They choose to live close to people because it's convenient for them. Not because they depend on us. Their trust or distrust is based on what they learn when they are kitten. Hard to change later. So "wilderness" is not what I would be afraid of. Instincts and reflexes are. Every cat may panic or first jump and think later. With this one it could be harmful even when he "doesn't mean to" harm.

What's interesting is every feline on the planet purrs at the same frequency. Different size cats will resonate differently but the frequency is the same.

Petted a full grown cougar once {hold the jokes please} at a petting zoo. It was unbelievable. Big cats are breathtakingly beautiful. And surprisingly calm with people

I used to work with tigers and essentially all they are is a bunch of 600 pound house cats. They love playing, pets, and any attention you can give them.

His purring is amazing & his feet are huge ( I adore cat paws). How envious I am of the relationship that you have with Max. He is absolutely beautiful - how anyone could trap this animal is beyond me. Thank you for sharing this.

I traveled from Salt Lake City to Kanorado , Kansas on foot , accepting rides only occasionally because I wanted to experience that part of the country in the best way possible, which is on foot. I was walking along a stretch of US 50 in Utah when I saw a lynx walking behind me. It followed me for several miles apparently just curious, never getting too close but obviously interested in me. It was just one of several cool experiences I had on my trek through the the Wasatch , Utah's canyon country and the Rockies in Colorado . I'm an Indiana native so I saw many things I'd never seen before.

In fact, animals don't like us, but our hands. The best scratching tool ever.

Like people, all are not alike. Each has it's own personality. This Lynx was obviously one of the more docile of the litter.

It always tickles me seeing wild or bigger sized cats having the same exact mannerisms as our house kitties. Sitting in the box, the purring, the head rolls and rolling over exposing their tummy….a cat is a cat 😻
