I'm a survivor of violent crime myself... I was unarmed and almost killed by a mugger with a baseball bat. No one came to help me... Now I carry a gun, and never felt safer. I will never be an unarmed victim again.

@@bulletsforteeth5029 buddy there is a difference between carrying a hand gun for safety and taking AR 15 in schools. Anyone who thinks they need a bloody automatic rifle for safety or "shoot deer" is full of sh!t. Nothing wrong in having some form of regulations and central database for gun ownership. No one is asking for complete ban on guns but some regulations are needed.

Laws aren't the problem. Don't let your emotions misguide you. It's the mental health. Do you want to go shoot up a school, or a Public place? No, because normal SANE people don't want to do that. We should be making more awareness of that fact. The gun is a tool, just like anything else. Criminals will still get them.

Matthew comes across as a humble genuine human being. A true gentleman. Let's hope something changes now because this cannot happen again. My thoughts are with all of them beautiful angels in heaven and also the mum's and dad's that now have to stand tall and fight for change. I’m from the USA and when we have an amendment about guns…some people take that for granted and it is really sad.

"Guns for me but not for thee" because you know they're not giving up their security

@@injerin3705 it has perfect sense for me that you can join the military because you will use firearms either in controlled practice exercise, either AT WAR. But not to kill civilians, which is not the main purpose of weapons for people that have a minimum common sense.

I have shot guns from a very early age way before I was 18, the difference is I was educated in gun safety and handling, also I had a healthy up bringing... These people who commit these acts are not stable and may need help, its NOT an age thing.

@melissanoelle410 agreed and to add on to that; not everyone should own a gun just because they want one. There needs to be extensive psych evaluations performed and passed, restrictions on what types of guns, how many and how much ammo can be purchased at any given time. No one needs an assault rifle. Those are designed for the military to have in WAR. To be able to kill a group of ppl in one pull of the trigger. Active duty military are the only ppl who should have access to them, and maybe border patrol, the feds, etc. Homeland security ...no civilian needs a weapon that destructive since when has any average civilian needed to defend themselves against such a large group of ppl that a handgun or a revolver wouldn't suffice?? Yes I totally agree with you ❤

We need to do better. I do know we have a mental health crises in this country. Who will address the multifaceted problem? It is more than guns. Yes, guns. Yes, mental health. There is a lot to look at here.

The AR Rifles and their Equivalent are capable of "interchangeable" ammunitions, they can use "double-action/hollow point" ammunition, wherein when it hit the target, then it explodes inside, thus double wounds that maximized the ability to inflict death to the victims with just a single shot... low chances of survival... the ability of the ammunition to expand upon impact.

instead of old duffers trying to lead America why aren't men or women with the same passion and clear mindedness of Matthew Mcconaughy in charge?.

Thank you for what you said today. One issue not discussed in youth owning guns is about maturity not just responsibility. The human brain doesn’t mature until the mid to late 20s depending on who one is listening. The one thing they all agree is it’s NOT 21! No one should be able to buy any weapon, any gun, particularly weapons of war, until one’s brain has completed its growth. PLEASE address this when you are publicly speaking. It’s a crucially part of the gun issue. Thanks.
