I've read Fergie said Le Tissier is one of the greatest players in the PL & didn't know how to plan against. If ture, that says a lot. And I'm a Man United fan. Le Tissier one of the greatest in the PL.

Don't think he was underrated, especially by people that know what they're on about. One man club. Could have had afew moves I reckon, if the media was like it is now back then there would have been transfer rumours constantly or people openly after him. Wasn't the same back then. Could have played more for England but he was too entertainin and showed too much flair....we crave that nowadays

I remember MLT scored a goal so majestic there were Liverpool fans in the Kop applauding him. What does he remember of this goal? He twisted Mark Wright inside out with his movement. 👍

Sure would've been amazing if Shearer, Le Tissier, Scholes and Giggs played in Italy, but in life you can't have everything (unfortunately). Yes, I think he would've graced Serie A. Such a shame that England's most creative players are consistently overlooked or played out of position in the national team in favour of one dimensional box to box type players. Glenn Hoddle, Paul Scholes, Le Tissier, Joe Cole, Jack Wilshere (before injuries), Michael Carrick unfortunately were all wasted by England. Same thing is happening to Jack Grealish now.

Le Tissier would of been great in Serie A as the play a slower game Could of imagined him at Napoli as they were similar to Southampton at that time struggling but he would been the one man show don’t think he liked playing for the big names he always thrived being an underdog
He was a legend on the field and now he's proving to be a legend off the field too. Top man.

He was so good, probably the most talented English player of his generation. Such a shame he was capped only 8 times by the national team. Only because he played in a relatively small club like Southampton. Just for not calling him up, England deserved to lose the Euro 1996. If he wanted, this guy could have played in any club in the world, from Man U to Real Madrid, and be the best player in any of those clubs, even win a Ballon D'Or. He remained loyal to his club till the end and that's one of the reasons real football fans we admire and see him as a real legend. All my respect and admiration to Le God! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🔝🔝

Shearer rates him loads, the Best striker PL ever had that's good enough for me. Le Tissier was the bloody business son. Get back in your seat and be quiet. Yet if you asked anyone name the 10 best players to play in the Premier league only the Southampton fans would pick him. These 10 goals could be a compilation of any "legend" Maradona, Cruyff,Pele etc they are that good. Only a genius can score goals like that.

A footballer with brains and skill. An individual, like Cantona, Bergkamp, Greaves. Brilliant!
Much respect to the fans on the Kop for applauding his goal in front of them.
He'd be a 150m player today. Easily one of the best penalty and set-piece takers in hustory, and one of the best attacking mids in the pl history.

Pole here My favorite EPL player of all time. Loyal to 1 club. Admitted on some on-the-side betting action for extra monies (keep ball after throw-in), but never betrayed the team, always played to win. Legend.
As a youth my mates and I would tune into MOTD just to see what magic Le Tissier produced that week
One of the reasons why Southampton was in the top flight of football in the 90s. Great leader!

As a (used to be Liverpool fan, when I was interested in football) I agree with you whole heartedly. Matt Le Tissier is as good a person as he was a footballer. He has just given a great speech in London outside of the BBC adding his voice to the many who are aware of what has been going on, and what has been done to the people by this so called government.

Because Hoddle (who was manager at the time) didn't wan't anyone to have more natural talent than him. Remember he scored a hatrick in the international friendly game a day or two before Hoddle selected the English squad. A hatrick FFS and Hoddle still would take him......

In 1996 Southampton vs Lincoln City at Sincil Bank, I'm sat in the home end as a Lincoln fan and pre match Le Tissier is knocking in free kick after free kick, even though we lost to some dodgy penalty decision Klaus Lundkvam diving I remember, it was an honour to see LE T play.

Yep, he's up there with George Best and Kenny Dalglish as far as I'm concerned. When it comes to, poise, intelligence and skill and they always seem to score goals nobody else could, as they always remembered what the point of the game is. Put it in the back of that net, distance and angle are not a problem 🙂

Loved his cool style, with both right and left leg👍 Not many players who had this skill.

As a 25 year old from London I wasnt aware of this mans talent but watching recent interviews on him and his views on how corrupt these time we live in are. Gave me a massive respect for this man! Brave man speaking his mind while others profit from it.

It's because he played for perennial strugglers Southampton his entire career rather than moving to a marquee club in the Premier League or in mainland Europe.

I watched him live many times, he hardly missed a game including mud, snow and crap midweek away games at the other end of the country. He was totally committed to the club, the fans idolised him and his team mates loved having him alongside them, they knew they had a chance with him in the side. When I started playing I always thought, wrongly of course, that if I trained hard enough, got fit enough, ran enough I could be like Bryan Robson but I 100% knew that no amount of training and effort could make me as good as Le Tiss, an absolute footballing genius and worth the admission alone.
My all-time favourite footballer. Left foot or right foot, twinkle-toed skills, just amazing.
