Great player but never fulfilled his potential at international level. The really great players did. He had the ability but I'm think he lacked a bit mentally. He had 10 times the ability of Beckham but not the self belief.

499 games 107 goals and 54 assists compared to Gerrards 504 games 121 goals and 70 assists. You also have to consider that scholes was in a much stronger team than Gerrard. Idk how you can call him a "complete cm" when he was woeful at defending

He played different positions throughout his career. Attacking Midfield / Second Striker 1994 - 1997 Central Midfield 1997 - 2001 Attacking Midfield 2001 - 2004 Central Midfield (Regista role) 2005 - 2011

Probably our greatest ever player. Part of many different United teams, scored goals from midfield, picked out unbelievable passes. England's greatest midfielder. LEGEND!!!

I love Scholesy, I really do, but best player ever? Certainly streets ahead in the Lampard & Gerrard conversation, but any one of us that saw Sir Bobby and Best play would say that Scholes has to make way for them.

Keith Moon I have to agree with Rhys he’s our greatest. Bobby is closest as his legacy is undeniable and for sheer longevity but I just feel Scholes had continued success in around 6 different teams Dictated the game... but we’re lucky to have the players we had to choose from

@@pro_1201 fact really is that Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard were all amazingly talented players... as a Utd fan Scholes would have to be one of the best CM we've ever had. PL has had some great players but that mid nineties - mid 00's were great as i recall.

When I was in my 20s and 30s, we had Paul Scholes and Roy Keane in midfield and it was brilliant. In today's 4-3-3 system, I often think about what it would have been like with those 2 legends playing alongside Carrick [hugely underrated player]. Then I compare those 3 with what we have today. Oh well, Scholes was simply a superb player. So was Keane.

Paul Scholes, definitely one of the best long range shooters ever. I so miss goals like this. Players nowadays don't have the guts or skills to take chances on long range shots.

Just watched him play in SoccerAid 2021 charity game. His first touch is still sublime, he takes it in his stride and on the turn, then his second touch is an effortless pass, into the stride of a teammate. Just class. He gets the team 30 yards up the pitch in 2 touches.

Will never forget number 3 amazing...always think of that goal when someone talks about him...England managers hadn’t a clue what a player he was

As a united fan, watching those goals now is what makes me miss the united of old. Nobody has ever scored those volleys than Paul Scholes..ever. What a player and a team!
