You forgot to include his goal against Argentina in the 98 World Cup. He went through almost the entire defense and scored one of the most beautiful goals I've seen in his career.

How on earth is the goal v Argentina in '98 not there?

The way he rolled the ball with his studs to be able to shoot v Brazil is a top top piece of thinking and skill. Much better goal than many will realise.

Owen was a big miss for England whenever he was injured, and he was a lot. Sadly. Also, what a great creator Gerrard was for England

This guys finishing and speed was on another level, cant imagine how far hed be if not for his injury.

No idea how no.9 isn't higher, that was surely a top 5 goal. Excellent feint under pressure and a tidy finish against a top Brazil team

Owen is for me one of the greatest strikers of all time. I remember when he humiliated the Germans at home by scoring 3 wonderful goals. (1-5) Too bad that at the time, the English did not have great goalkeepers. (R of Belgium)

One of THE all time great finishers!

Owen was such a clinical finisher. Many of his goals were right in the corners giving the goalkeeper no chance. Great striker.

100% agree. He’s a better finisher than Rooney and Kane when you consider all the different types of goals he scored. If, he’d stayed injury free he’d have probably scored 60-80 goals for England.

he got burnt out too early in is career, playing 40 games per season at 18 to -24 was too much for him. if liverpool had slowed down he wouldve had better longevity

rooney was never even close to owen. better to compare shearer but owen was different. if he didn't get injured england would have created a superstar

Leaping and jumping and are correlated with speed and acceleration which Owen had plenty of. I watched a recent interview where Owen talked about being the highest leaper and jumper in training for both Liverpool and Real Madrid squad during training and he attributed it to his speed and torque.

@@GunmanYeoh I notice quite a lot of his headers were low down though, some times he even ducked slightly to get the connection, I guess it was really just his quick mind for positioning and accuracy of the cross usually by Beckham (England, Real Madrid)

Very underrated striker. Injuries really robbed his career. One of the best England produced. I don’t know y he never got as much hype as Rooney. He was every bit a top striker.

rooney was hype owen was few levels above. he could mix it with the very best. at madrid he held his own even though management tried to mess him around

He wasn’t even the designated penalty taker! He’d have probably scored 80 goals for England, maybe more, if he hadn’t been struck down so early by cruel injuries. He’s one of the all time great finishers the game has seen.

Owen was far better than some of these current younger strikers we see playing. Imagine Owen's transfer fee now, he would be worth 250 million

Gerrard assisted half of these goals. People often talk about the "class of 92" and rightly so, but Liverpool produced Gerrard, Owen, Fowler, Carragher, McManaman in the same time period, it just goes to show how important development and long term planning is. Liverpool rushed their stars through because they were struggling and these young lads were the only ones doing well, but because they were rushed half of them became worn out and injury prone at a criminally young age, whereas United rightly developed and moulded their lads properly and it paid dividends longer term.
