Just a tip. Your video music is incredibly loud over your voice and when you change over to the next segment. From one Preply tutor to another. Thanks for your tips

I’m still learning when it comes to video editing and I’ll make sure to reduce the music next time. Thank you for your input. 😊

hi Seoul, I'm a chilean and I'm just completing my profile to teach Spanish, although I studied Pedagogy in English at the university but I don't feel that confident in English, so I prefer to teach my native language. I need to refresh some of my childhood Spanish class knowledge to teach it better, but I'm motivated. Your advice helps me improve my profile. Thanks, chao.

I took my MA in English Language Teaching at the University of Sussex in the U.K. and we learnt a lot about language acquisition theory and teaching pedagogy.

Great advice sir! I'm going to be following and listening to your advice very closely. I would like to move over to Preply from another platform. I am a certified TEFL/TESOL tutor from London and wish to follow your steps for success. At the moment my profile is not getting me any students :/ I joined the discord if that's ok ^_^

I've been teaching on preply since last year. I've recently worked on profile. From video to the description. My profile score is 100% . But it's quiet. I haven't had a trail lesson in like 2 months now. No message that students have added me to their favorites.

I suppose it depends what language you are teaching as well as your price. Consider offering a lower price if you are willing. However, things take time and work on your introduction video or create a website where you share your reflections. Students will come along once your profile becomes more prominent.

Thank you for the information; it's really useful. I am considering using this platform in case I don't find work where I am moving to in Europe. I am wondering if you still use the 'Exploring British Culture, Multi-level Activities About Life in the UK' book, or if it is quite dated. If I remember correctly, I've seen this book in one of your earlier videos. I am trying to see which teaching books I should definitely purchase before leaving the UK. It might be more expensive to order from an EU country.

The Life in the U.K. book is dated much like anything which is published. Anyhow, it is worth investing in the Grammar/Vocabulary in Use books, Business English material such as Market Leader, IELTS coursebooks as well as any that you consider worthwhile. After 18 years, I’ve got a number of books which I shipped in the end. I couldn’t live without them.

Hello @Seoul_foreigner! Thank you for your informative videos! I am a new Greek teacher on preply and I'm loving it so far. In about 6 weeks I have 14 students and I want to teach as a full time job. My problem is that some of the students are not consistent. For example they might book a lesson every other week and that makes me nervous because I'm worried they are all gonna leave at some point and I'll not have any students at all 😅. How can I keep my students regular? Also is it normal for lessons to fluctuate? I believe it's very easy to get frustrated over the small things and I want to keep positive spirits! So any tips for beginners are welcome!

I believe that tutors are able to teach a maximum of two languages or subjects. Best of luck and you’ll be quite unique being able to teach either languages at any time. 😊
