I like your style of attack on these. I've seen other struggle with these boots.

What’s the black material you outlined and cut out ? Is there many different materials to use for this part some thicker or softer or harder ? And what is the best glue to use to bond that material And what’s the name of the machine that stitched it ? And the machine you used to press on tighter

I looked this up because I figured I must be doing something wrong. Looks like I'm on the right path. I was wrongly under the impression that there was a mid sole in there somewhere

Are you sure the midsole did not need to be replaced? I saw another video of a cobbler removing the whole injection insole and replacing it too, before sewing on a new welt and sticking on the new sole.

*I looked over the video very carefully. It appears These Redwing Safety Toe boots have a rubber welt, with a rubber outsole (the original one) glued onto the welt (and stitched). I saw another cobbler work on the same Red Wing model, and the welt is somehow stitched on. I could tell since as the other guy was cutting away at it, I saw threads. So there isn't a leather welt to begin with. As for the midsole, also on this other cobbler's channel, I saw what the footbed looked like a bit. I think you meant footbed. He wasn't able to clean it out entirely, but I could see that the footbed kind of looked like it was a synthetic material (it was yellow in color). I also agree with you that the midsole rubber is possibly injected. I also saw this in the other cobbler's video. I saw chunks of the rubber midsole missing from him trying to slice the rubber outsole off.* *I can tell this Red Wing model is difficult to resole because of the difficulty of removing the one piece outsole rubber from the footbed. The outer sole I found out, is in one piece, and glued straight to the rubber welt, and the welt is stitched on for further support. So it's good these shoes had a midsole added to them. The new midsole looks like it's rubber or a black leather. As for the welt, I believe it could be the request of the customer to keep the welt and KW stitched it on to make it more secure.*

I am attempting to resolve a pair just like this, amazingly helpful vid!! My only question is- for the lug/outsole, do you choose a size 10 for a size 10 boot? Or should I go bigger and trim it?

I wonder how the factory does it? Do they just re melt a new sole on it? What happens if the middle internals wear out?

The factory won't likely be resoling these boots, in my opinion.

Yes, they do resole them. The sole is injection molded. I've had a pair of the original Super Sole redone.

These are my boots! I had a previous pair done by another cobbler and it was a disaster. Your workmanship is much better. I’m optimistic that these hold up again for a long time. I had enquired with the factory to have this pair done and they don’t do these as they were not a welted sole. I’m super happy - thanks for the great job.
