moleprice agreed there is something to behold and take pride in. Watching the gentleman work gives one an appreciation for the work he does and is testament as to the fact that there still products made that can be repaired.

I agree - unfortunately, often times it's cheaper to buy a replacement than fix an existing. This case there was sentiment that swayed in the direction of the latter.

@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Yeah mate i totally agree. Guess he's going for the traditional look, but all the way through the video i was waiting to see how a pair of Docs look with a white trim sole. Better, it would seem. Not a fan of the original ones.
It's very soothing to know there still is someone doing things the way they are supposed to. This is the very finest type of craftsmanship.
This old school craftsmanship, patience and attention to detail is so refreshing to see around in this day and age. And from a young, talented man.. to boot. I can't get enough of this - very satisfying , relaxing and rewarding to watch. Love your talented work & videos, Brian🤟🏽💫💜🙏🏽

Seth _ My firend ship them over to the factory in england to have them resoled. In the end it was close to a new pair, but hey, thos boots hab a soul.

Oh, man, I damn near wept watching this! Wearing that particular style of Docs every day for years might have something to do with my reaction, but the video was oddly beautiful in its own way.

Dang, I actually didn't read any comments before I posted mine. They are very relaxing. I wasn't sure why at first. Then it clicked. He's a young man who is skilled in his craft and obviously enjoys it. He takes pride in what he does. That's so rare now days which is unfortunate. I'm a highly skilled tradesmen myself. My profession is not very KZreadable. I've considered trying to get young people interested in it. Logistics are too much for where I'm at. Job: Millwight/Fabricator/Welder.

I have had to discard 4 pairs of Docs over thirty years because I could not get anyone to resole them. I will be sending some soon Brian.

If you are in the UK Mr Minute will do a Doc resole, most good cobblers will take in the job.

Solovair are far better quality
As far as I'm concerned, Brian, you've turned a $150 pair of boots to a $500+ pair. Definitely improved it. Amazing craftsmanship!

Great craftsmanship! Got my first pair of Doc Martens 22 yrs ago and it's still with me today. Love your work and dedication!
32 years ago I was a shoemaker....appreciate your skills. And will subscribe. Miss that pot of glue...tubes are just worthless even when purchased from a shoe repair.
Excellent workmanship! Those Doc Martens are now a better pair of boots than when they were new. It's great to see these centuries-old trades being kept alive.

I had similar boots and I threw them away because I was told they couldn't be resole. Excellent job and good to know there are still people able to go the extra mile to fix our beloved shoes

Marcelo Pereira there are a number of UK firms that will resole your docs for about £50..
There's something very soothing to the soul watching a quality craftsman like Brian. Fantastic video, thanks for filming it for us all.

My man! This is top notch craftsmanship. Very impressive and glad to see the trades continuing to move forward. By the way this was not just a resole. This man rebuilt these boots from the ground up. Great work!

I noticed in the comments people ask are Doc Martens worth fixing if Doc Martens were made the way he fixed them they will be worth 4 to $500 which is to say these shoes are better than a new pair

A friend of mine had some old docs when we were in high school and the boots were really well made. They were made in England. I think most of the new dr martens are made in China

These are the Doc Martens Tobias, cheaply made in China. The leather will still be low quality after the boots are restored. Trust me I have gone through many cheap Docs. Only the Made in England Docs are worth fixing because the leather lasts very long.

Now this is a lost art form!! I remember cobblers being everywhere and now you're lucky to find one. Thanks for the interesting videos...
I dont want to be rude but the upper leather is not as great as that killer sole and construction. However I congrat the owner that he has his shoes upgraded to a new level and Im sure he will be happy wearing it. To my boy Brian, magnificent work as always. Thank you for inspired me a better week.
Wish they made Dr Martens with a sole like that from the start.

The reason DR Martens doesnt do that, is that they're melting the sole on the shoe, is impossible to do that with leather (This is the reason a sole doesnt come lose of a dr martens shoe)

Very nice work, they look better now. I need a half sole on an old pair, I just need the $$$ to get them fixed, if only your shop was right around the corner...I was thinking do you make your own knife's, and if you do a video might be nice. I’ve seen that sole on a doc before. If I remember correctly it doesn’t have a traditional heel and was supposed to be more lightweight.

It was made made in China i believe. I was looking forward to seeing a MIE Dr.Marten being resoled.

Your resole seems to be much better construction than the original.

really good - however, they're not DM's any more - where is the Air Wair sole ? You can get them resoled with the proper soles.

It's so interesting to see how different cobblers approach resoling Docs, since the factory process with the fused PVC welts is so unique. Loved watching this particular restoration.

The rubber soles on those type of Docs are complete crap. I have a pair in black, they're called Tobias (not sure if the ones in the video are the same model but they do share the same exact soles as mine). Trust me, any bit of water on any smooth surface will have you slipping, plus the sole on my left boot cracked in less than a month's use. On the plus side other than the soles, they're pretty solid and well made. The resole on these are actually an upgrade to the originals, which should of been the way Dr. Martens made them in the first place.

It's not worth resoling Doc Martens though, unless you have a Made in England pair, because it costs almost the same as the boots.

Much respect, you're a craftsman sir. I worked in a shop in the early 90s and we turned away tons of dr. marten business. We just couldn't figure how to get those airwalk bex soles to stick. If we only thought outside the box like you. Well done.
