Master Each Step of the Audio Recording Process, Lesson 19.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If I could put an entire audio engineering course into a 23 minute video, this would be it. A lot of good information here as we explore all the components in an audio recording studio, from the source, to the room acoustics, then the microphone, microphone cable, preamp, audio converters, the digital audio workstation, also called the DAW, the monitor speakers and the room acoustics once again. We go into detail about how to optimize each link in the recording chain to get the best quality home recordings.

This video is for people such as musicians and audio engineers who want to learn about recording and audio engineering. This information is relevant with any DAW towards microphone, preamp, audio converter or monitors, and room acoustics. Knowledge is power, and recording studio content is acoustics. In the DAW there's plugins for eq, compression and a lot of reverb, delay, guitar, vocals, ssl, waves, uad accelerator, luna, sound, amp, native instruments. It's an emulation of xlr cable that is balanced with recording interface, and stuff like that.

Hi, thanks for the question. Yes, I am currently working on lesson 21, and I will eventually complete the full course. After the course, I will be creating more videos on a variety of topics. Have a great day!

Just found this, thanks so much I'm def taking the time for the others! You really know how to break it down in layman's terms. I'm curious about whether it is possible for the room to make a mic reproduce piercing highs? I'm trying out an L22 Sphere with an Apollo preamp and in the pre-recording stage I keep getting these painful high frqs whenever I raise the preamp to mic level. I'm not distorting or anything, doesn't matter where I place the mic, using some foam around it to catch some of those highs, tried different headphones, maybe it's the preamp or the mic itself? The L22 is a loaner right now so I have the option of returning it if I want to and wait for the original one.

Hi, Poor room acoustics can cause noticeable differences in the low frequencies, but not in the high frequencies. Lesson 9, on phase, comb filtering and how sound waves interact explains why this is. So, to answer your question, no, poor room acoustics will not cause excessive or harsh sounding high frequencies. The Apollo preamps are super good, so unless it’s defective, that’s not the problem either. I’d say it’s probably the microphone, or the emulation software that works with the microphone. I’m honestly not a fan of digital emulations. The best way to put it into perspective is how cherry flavoured candy models the flavour of a cherry. There is a faint resemblance, but if you’ve ever tasted a real cherry, you’ll know the fake one doesn’t even come close. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks :)

@@Get.Beautiful.Recordings I appreciate the honesty. I can't say I've ever tried a top of line mic so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference other than video comparisons I see on KZread. In testing this mic, I like the different tones I get from it, can't say how close they are to the real thing, but I can at least have access to different options, without breaking the bank, all things considered. I agree with you though, I think it is probably the mic and I can only hope the original I ordered does not show the same problem, otherwise I will just take that $1500 and try something else. Any recommendations? I'm sure you have a video about it somewhere lol

@@tellitlikeitis8691 well, naturally, I would recommend iSK microphones.
