The thing I love most about this episode, is how drastically different carter's fighting style is compared to Steve. Carters fighting style was way more fierce and brutal, which makes sense considering Steve was just a humble good guy, and Carter was an agent who has probably already killed people.

Yup, i noticed how much straight up death there was. Cant recall if it was that clear in the first Cap America film.

I think you’re forgetting that they aren’t telling us a *new* story, they’re putting a multiverse spin a story that 99.9% of us already know and are invested in. They don’t have to build up the relationship between Peggy and Steve because we already know what the relationship is. There’s no need to “waste” time on building that up. It’s also obvious that Peggy already knows what she’s doing because she’s already a trained military officer. Steve had to learn how to be a soldier, Peggy already knew.

As Doctor Erskin said about the serum "Good becomes great" and Peggy was good before but as Captain Carter she became even better. The serum took all she knew as a trained soldier and magnified it!! This episode went nothing like I expected and I loved it; all the little differences and the big ones were so good. I love bad ass female leads and Captain Carter was it!!!! I also love how it was just something as simple as Peggy's choice of not going back to the booth that created this story, confirming what the TVA said that even getting to work late causes nexus events and branch timelines. The multiverse is here and I am in it for the long haul

I think the whole point of what if is that nearly nothing goes remotely the same. Basically there won't be a Winter Soldier or if there is he'll be purely a villain.

They essentially squeezed the entire plot of “Captain America: The First Avenger” into 30 or so minutes. Wonderfully done. I love that Steve has a suit powered by the Tesseract, built by a Stark. He’s Iron Man.

Yes it is definitely fast paced but I felt all the emotion that they're trying to show. I think this pacing was on purpose because it is mostly similar plot structure to the first Avenger they probably thought they didn't need to spend more time telling this story since it is mostly familiar to the first Avenger and we already knew what is going to happen and yeah next episodes probably will be different in way that it won't feel like remake of the previous movies and if that's the case with next episodes then I think the pacing will be normal.

it's prolly cuz this episode was based on a change on a character that was there with the original version, so the events of world war would go similarly, the rest are just random events like randomly tchalla becoming starlord, and another where the avengers didn't exist

Steve can still do this all day with the Stomper armor. Captain Carter took charge like a boss. Great start to the MCM.

I really loved the animation, especially in the action scenes . It was so amazingly choreographed. Also the fact that steve and peggy didn't get to have their dance, even in this universe, kinda poetic and sad 😐. Loved ur reactions😊 keep it up

I loved the first episode. To know Captain America: The FIrst Avenger and to see how similar and different some of these scenes are: total nostalgia.

I was the same as John it took me a little time to get used to the fast pacing and the general tone and vibe but I enjoyed it more as it went on and it was lots of fun generally! I enjoyed Howard a lot especially.

What If...? season 1 will surely be a very fun season and it is evident with this first episode! The concept of the series is astounding. Love your reactions and can't wait for next What Ifs...

I guess this is why we can see Carter that has been caught by the TVA in Loki😅 The guys in the room probably had to run from Alioth for their lives after they've been set a reset charge by the TVA😅😅

Every time Bucky was making a joke I could just think of that article I read about Sebastian Stan being super surprised that he got to be funny and that they told him that was his personal 'what if' 😆

I think the pacing while different was really exciting and fun! I think the thing is that we are so used to the slow stories that drag out the arcs and story elements, while these are the Watcher's stories, so they are meant to be brief to give us a little taste of what these new outcomes would look and feel like. Like a choose your own adventure story. Super excited for what's to come!

I'm not necessarily sure you were meant to feel the weight of everything going on. We already know how it will play out overall. I think the whole point was just to have a fun adventure with a few new surprises.

What a crazy episode and they paid homage to Marvels' Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger easily by changing the scenario here and there for the characters which was awesome. I loved the subtleties in dialogue between Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers; Bucky Barnes and Captain Carter: Steve Rogers and Captain Carter. The dialogues paralleled from Marvels Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger. The ending with Captain Carter being freed from the other side of the doorway as she arrives on Earth paralleled to Loki's first time arriving on Earth in Marvel's Avengers as Clint Barton and Nick Fury kind of greet him.

I loved it soooo much. The action was amazing. I actually teared up at the end when Peggy did her sacrifice. I am so looking forward to the next episodes.

I feel that... It was quite great!! Lol they’ve shown the whole 2hr movie in just 30 min with 2-3 changes!! The VFX were absolutely great 🔥

Enjoyed it. but thought it was a serious missed opportunity to not set up Steve Rogers as this universe's Winter Solider for a season 2 or post credit scene, that way we still get super soldier Steve, and the Winter Solider storyline, but in a different context.

@@danielruiz8259 They could write it however they wanted, the Hydra Stomper armor protected him enough to keep him alive instead of Zola's experiments in the POW camp like with Bucky. And Zola was captured by Shield and merged with them the entirety of the Winter Solider Program in the original timeline, so not much would have had to change

@@Lupin788 Well to be fair, the very concept of What If...? is quite on the nose especially with it's titles being blunt and homaging to the original comics, I just feel like if you are going to essentially make female Captain America or Captain Britain😜 with completely flopped roles, you should go all in🤷‍♂️ Still liked it regardles though minus some pacing issues

If Disney continues with their own trend, we can expect a live-action remake of this animated classic in a couple of years.

When I saw the tesseract laser portal I literally said out loud “are they actually-“ and then Peggy jumps out and I’m immediately like “yup she’s in the future too now huh”

To see the beginnings of this animation style, look up the 2003 Spider-Man series. No doubt it was an influence. I'm assuming that when Captain Carter shows up in live action, they're gonna use a combo of CGI and camera tricks to make Hayley look that big since hitting the gym wouldn't be enough. I was also wondering if her appearing more powerful than Steve is due to her already having combat skills and not trying to hold back as he would. Looking forward to future episodes!

Captain Carter vs Captain America Who would win? Me: Captain Carter, She already got experience before taking the serum.

As an animator, with a speciality in fight animations, these fight scenes looked CLEAN ! Blocking and choreography as surgically precise like these are possible only in animation, and I loved every single one of them (especially the oners). Maybe a little more camera shake would have made it even more brutal, and since we're in animation here, I wish they could have made some little callbacks to gems like the Marvel vs Capcom games, where Cap got some awesome animations (like his shield smears), but it was already fantastic as is. But yes, agree with the pacing. As fun and fantastic it looked (and sounded, with most of the original actors returning), everything just breeze through all the checkpoints that we don't have much time to let the characters (and the story) breathe. It does make the First Avenger look that much better, though. I hope it's gonna be a bit better with the next coming ones, but I don't have much hope for it. Still looking forward to the next episodes, though !

Sometimes, it was just a tad bit too perfect to make it realist (or at least plausible), from time to time, you do feel the puppet effect. But other than that, it was mostly really well done, for an animation studio that was just created, in a visual style that is still pretty fresh !

I was pleasantly surprised by how long the episode was. Not sure if it was announced prior, but I was expecting 10 minute episodes.

I think the point of the story being so similar to the original is that a small change can have a ripple affect. Small at first, but as time goes on the differences become bigger and bigger as well as more noticeable.

I said once than DC animated was better than Marvel Animated… this changed my mind. Amazing!!!

Tom Holland and Chris Evans won’t be reprising their roles for this show, probably because Holland is probably busy filming scenes for Spider-Man:No Way Home, and Chris Evans might be busy doing voice work for the upcoming Pixar movie “Lightyear”.

Whilst that would be cool, they would probably get someone that sounds more like Tom Holland. If I am correct Tom Holland didn't play Spider-Man in this VR ride that was based on the MCU, so they would probably get the guy that did the voice in that.

Soooo many thoughts! Was that... Hive?!?! Hardcore shipping Mega Peg and skinny Steve. OTP across the entire multiverse. Steve and Bucky both gone?? My heart! I didn't know that I've needed this my whole life.

So damn happy that not only do we finally have a What If? TV series but that the very first episode is of Captain Carter!!!! When The First Avenger came out I loved Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter so much that I always wondered what if she had gotten the serum and became the world’s first superhero. And I’m so happy we got this. I hope next season we see an alternate Avengers with her as it’s leader, plus the sword fits so perfectly with the shield, like the knight that she is.

I love the Heddy Lamarr reference. 'I spent a weekend with Heddy Lamarr but she wasn't teaching me German!'. Typical Howard, weekend with a gorgeous actress, but... she might well have been teaching him avionics, electronic tracking and radio frequency tricks.

It really feels like a comic come to life!

This episode was amazing! I loved the animation, it has such a comic book feel to it. There were also some shots in this episode that were really cool to see. And the action is this episode was amazing. It is still pretty weird to see Steve Rogers but not hear Chris Evans. I will say though the episode was really fast paced, but I guess they did that because this was basically (story structure wise) just Captain America: The First Avenger so they probably didn’t want to spend too much time on it. I also just got to say that I loved the opening title sequence. I really liked how even though Steve did not get the super soldier serum Peggy was still attracted to him. And wow, the fight scene between Captain Carter and the Hydra soldiers was so amazing! I really loved the detail of Captain Carter using the shield differently than Captain America. And it was really cool to see Captain Carter and the Hydra Stomper destroying the tanks. Also, the montage of Captain Carter and the Hydra Stomper beating up the Hydra soldiers was really action packed and cinematic. It was also a nice “call back” to Captain America: The First Avenger that Bucky almost fell off and said that Captain Carter could have ripped his arm off. Also the fight at Red Skull’s castle was so awesome. And WOW! I did not expect for the “tentacle monster” immediately kill Red Skull like that. And it was really cool to see Captain Carter be the one to come out of the tesseract portal in the first Avengers movie. Which makes me wonder, if Captain Carter is the one who came out of the portal that means that Loki wouldn’t be able to arrive and that means the battle of New York would never happen.

This is crazy I just watch this episode and went to real rejects channel with Quickness to see if they reacted to it and look, Always can count on you Greg and John 👍

This is great! If it were a feature length animated film I feel like it would have the stakes and emotion involved, but for a 30 minute animated show I think they hit the mark. Can’t wait to see more!

The way it’s edited and cut together is very star wars ish. Reminds me of the clone wars, especially with that catch up monologue about the war and such

I've heard all the episodes are so different so I'm very excited about the show

Josh Keaton went from playing Spider-Man, to playing Iron Man (Iron Man VR), and now Steve Rogers as Iron Man (or HYDRA Stomper)

I think I may be in love with the way Captain Carter fights, she is such a badass-

What a first episode. Honestly so far these marvel series have been gold standard.

At first I was wondering why they would put Steve in the HYDRA Stomper, aside from the fact that he has proven that he won’t back down from a fight and is Howard’s friend (which are good reasons in of themselves). I reason I like is that they needed a smaller person to fit inside the machine, considering how much technology is packed inside the suit. If anyone has been inside the old WW2 vehicles, they will know that they are really cramped as they are (I found it cramped but usable because I’m not a big guy myself), without adding loads more tech. It might have been really nice to see the suit factor into Steve’s rehabilitation from his injury, almost like Bucky’s metal arm prosthetic but applied to Steve’s entire body.

It’s crazy to know that Red Skull may have had the plan to bring in that monster (I’m sure Shuma gorath) even in the main timeline. I’m thinking its cuz Peggy got involved far more and much sooner which pushed him to go with that plan. Cuz the US had Steve be a mascot for a while lol.

As someone who is bored of Marvel, this was awesome and I can’t wait to see more Captain Carter kicking ass. My biggest complaint, I wish the episode was longer

This episode was great! Wish it was longer, however, still satisfying

I really liked Howard stark in this ep weirdly, every time he showed up it was really enjoyable with his personality, even tho this ep is 25 mins he's way better than he was in the films
