Maruyama's Uchi Mata is a work of art

Спорт

There is no doubt that Joshiro Maruyama has one of the best, if not the best, Uchi Mata in modern Judo. His Uchi Mata is powerful and fluid; he has a wide variety of tricks to set it up and execute perfect ippon, and this compilation is proof of that.
A few years ago, I made a two-part analysis of Maruyama's Uchi Mata, so if you want to know some inside details of his Uchi Mata, you can have a quick look here:

My Dad was my first sensei in 1958. I was five. When I was 19 I moved to Tokyo and was a student of Okano sensei at his school, Seiki Juku. What I'm saying is, I've seen a lot of uchi mata guys in the past 65 plus years. Maruyama is absolutely on another level.

Is Okano as good as they say he is, or is he even better? I've heard the latter is the common conclusion.

He's better. I watched him doing randori with national team members long after his retirement and not one ever got him.

@@neildillon837 That's in line with what I've heard. That the difference between Okano and the average Olympic champion is bigger than the difference between an Olympic champion and the average black belt.

Sir, I whole-heartedly agree with you on Maruyama's Uchimata being out of this world (meaning outside Japan). Inside Japan, however, Maruyama's Uchimata is a common place. Still you can still go to the Kodokan, please check out its instructors Shimoyama Sensei and Nambo Sensei. They routinely do the no-step Uchimata to ippon much taller opponents. I have yet to wrap my head around the move, despite having watched them done it for 15 years, much less duplicate it.

So good. He makes it look easy and fluid, even though technique such as he is showing is so hard. Thanks for sharing.

    0:08投げた後に自分も一緒に倒れ込まないのがすごいですね。 多くの選手は自分のカラダも倒れ込みますよね。
