Marshall Head & Mesa 4x12, Mesa Head, Marshall 4x12

Музыка

Both Marshall and Mesa Boogie make some fantastic amps but tend to have two quite distinctive sounds. Here we look at the Marshall JMP, Mesa boogie Roadking and a iconic 4x12 by each brand, but rather than do the obvious, we decided to mix things up a little and see how each amp sounds with the others cab.
The idea behind this video is, at Zilla we are used to mixing brands, by the fact that we don't make amps. Here we wanted to show how things can be mixed up a little and illustrate that there are merits to it.
Please remember this is just a bit of fun, and that both amps would sound better using a Zilla cab ;)

Hey guys 👋🏼 thanks for making this video. I’m making a dual amp set up currently and really trying to find what cabs would complement both the marshall origin 50h and mesa badlander 50. Out of curiosity when you custom build a cab are customers able to come to your HQ to get help with their choice? Thanks. Maybe see you soon.

Killer opening jam, sweet sounding closing jam, you should do more of those! Both amps sound great, particularly liked that Mesa driven. Both guitars sound great, I think I've commented on that Mira before, that LP is rather good too.

Thanks Patrick, that is really kind! Joe keeps trying to get me to do it but I'm so rusty I shy away.... that was the first time I recorded any lead lines in over ten years, it was really good fun.

One of my favorite sounds ever is a Marshall 1960B loaded with 4x EV12L or G12-65 with a Mesa/Boogie Mark II / Mark III / JP-2C style head plugged into it. Just gets that super dense and thick mids thing going, that some 80s albums had on their record. I would absolutely use a Mesa head with a Marshall Cab!

Good stuff gents. As you guys make cabs, would be very interested to see you guys discuss/show/compare cabs of different sizes and shapes (with the same speaker type). As a home only player 1x12 cab comparison would be my choice, but your insight on any size would be appreciated.

Thanks, that is something we definitely should do. I do want to make a few videos on size, number of speakers but I think thickness of wood and baffle design would be quite interesting too. Thanks for the nudge, we really need to do those.

I actually liked this video. I play this sound the combination of the Mesa and Marshall sound. I prefer the Marshall 4/12 of the two. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Wayne. I think both cabs work really well but those older T75s in the Marshall do sound really cool, I agree. Thanks for tuning in.

I run a JCM900 head with a Randall Lynchback cabinet with the Celestion's Lynchback speakers. I'd like to get the Lynchback cab with the Eminence Super V speakers which are based on the early 70's Fane speakers. Now that cabinet is killer!!!

Thanks a lot for the video. I understand you did it for science. I would like to note that, (to me) the Dual Rect. sucks considerably less into the Marshall than the Marshall does into the Mesa; however both I consider abominable combinations. In the beginning that puzzled me, as I would normally choose a Marshall over a Messa every time. Then, it occurred to me, that perhaps the choice of the Cab may be more instrumental to the desired tonal output than the choice of the Amp (Head) would!

I'm currently using a JCM 900 with a Tube Screamer and Ive replaced the original Cab with V30s. I recently bought a 6505 and that sounds fucking lethal though the marshall cab.

VINTAGE 30'S ARE VOICED....I HAVE THEM THE ENGLISH VERSIONS AND ALSO A 1960 CAB THAT CAME WITH STANDARD ISSUE 75 WATT SPEAKERS...I PREFER THEM OVER THE VINTAGE 30'S. BUT WHEN I PUT THE V30S IN THE BOTTOM AND RUN THE 75'S ON TOP IT SOUNDS AWESOME IN COMBINATION.

You should leave fewer comments, or make your own videos. Funny, I made videos and haven't once left a negative comment. When we did videos with only playing people would complain that there was no context. It's why I stopped making videos for people. Always someone to drag you down.
