I love how they can't stop... I love how they often out-deapan each other, and then one or the other cracks up because they're doing it so well. I love how Lucy smiles when she looks at John... and how delighted he is when she makes him laugh. They do an amazing job of being both the worst and the best married couple.

Genuine smiles from Jon do occur, they're just mainly smiles of self-satisfaction. His smiles for Lucy seem warmer and even seem to surprise him. He's like "Wow, I actually like another human being", and I find it very sweet.

This is why I love British comedy! The comedians are brilliant , quick witted and off-the-cuff, the jokes are dry and deadpanned, but yet you see the natural aspects of their personalities. Add in the community of British comedians appearing on each other's shows, and bouncing off their personality quirks creates this amazing and continuous universe of jokes

I think the reason why Jon loves her so much is that not only was she willing to dive down into Jon incredibly erratic out of norm behaviour, she embraced his lifestyle and made it her own too. If misery loves company, they both compliment each other that they could never find this complicity in anyone else. They probably laugh together really hard when they have convinced themselves that they have fooled everyone.

I read somewhere that the only scenes that are completely unscripted, are the interviews on the sofa clips. They don’t come across as pre written to me. Some of the written episodes also include some ad libbing apparently - which makes it funnier & adds authenticity.

THIS IS THE VERY BEST ADVICE "MARRIAGE DON'T DO IT" YOU WILL REGRET IT. ALL THE VERY RICHEST MEN IN THE WORLD REMAIN UNMARRIED . THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF GOLD-DIGERS OUT THERE, THAT WILL DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET THEIR HOOKS INTO A RICH GULLIBLE MAN . THEY SAY MARRIAGE IS A WONDERFUL INSTITUTION, BUT DO YOU WANT TO LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IN AN INSTITUTION I GOT MARRIED? 18 MONTHS LATER DIVORCED, COST ME £1.2 MILLION, BUT A LESSON LEARNT. BEEN HAPPY EVER SINCE WITH MANY, MANY BEAUTIFUL , STUNNING WOMEN. AND WILL NEVER WALK UP THE AISLE, NOW ENJOY LIFE WITHOUT A WIFE, I'M 76 AND LOVING IT.
