Mark Lanegan - House a Home [3-13-94]

Музыка

[Stereo feed] The former vocalist for the Screaming Trees, had, by this time, undertaken his solo career, and performs here with a couple of musicians from the Seattle scene [I believe?], on US cable television.
I stand corrected [and thanks for that info, RidingTheNightingale!]. Mike Johnson and J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr help out on this one.

For me totally the best era in Lanegan's solo career and no coincidence the hand of the utterly incredible Mike Johnson guiding him through it. Johnson's solo work backs this up. Songs like Eclipse back this up. WFTHG and Johnson's Year of Monday's are go to records for me. Thanks for sharing this. Lanegan was never better IMHO. We all have favourite points in artists careers, this is one for me.

My pleasure! Obviously, when someone takes the time to post such a descriptive "ode" to a fave artist, in reaction to a live clip, such as this, it means it was worthwhile to have shared the performance :) Thank you!

100% hands down agree. Mike Johnson's Guitar work is incredible. A dark vintage and almost western feel to his contributions to Lanegan's work was a perfect combination. I only wish for future collaborations even though its been some time. One can hope right?

Nick Johnson Mikes playing is fuckin crazy. Crazy. I too wish for a lanegan reunion. Also love mikes work with caustic resin. Dino. Production etc. Im a mike johnson nerd. Framed posters. Autographed stuff. Guitar picks. Early unplayed vinyl. Super nice and friendly guy. At my wedding the ex wife and my first dance was to his instrumental tradewinds track, oddly enough the last song we danced to was one part lullaby, by lou barlow's folk implosion whom mike replaced in Dinosaur jr after a bad split with the band. Ill blame the divorce on that. Lol.

Out of all the songs on Whiskey for the Holy Ghost why did they choose House a Home as a single and video to promote? Not that it's a bad song but there are so many "better" ones on that album, Carnival or Borracho for instance.

  • @jetcheneau5811

It's accessible to an MTV audience. Borracho is a very rough-sounding song and Carnival is structured weirdly.

@@jetcheneau5811 This is 1994 and it was before Cobain's death. Anything with "Seattle" or "Grunge" attached to it was given full priority, a late Nate slot on 120 minutes isn't really much promotion anyways but it's nothing amazing or surprising for the time.
