Lyrics:
So much blood I'm starting to drown
It runs from cold to colder
Time to time the skies come down
And help me lose my way
Tears and lies for answers
You and open veins
God knows I'm gone
Girl I just want you to
Come on down
Lord there's a storm in my head and if all these Sins are mine and I've done wrong
Though they come on down
Long gone day
Oh whoever said we'd wash away with the rain
See you all from time to time
Isn't it so strange how far away we all are now
Am I the only one who remembers that summer
Oh I remember everyday each time a place was saved
The music that we made
The wind has carried all of that away
Long gone day
Mmmmmmmm whoever said we'd wash away with the rain
So many tears I'm startin to drown
The rains in heaven must all come down
Silver spoons that fix the crown
The luckless ones are broken
Fears and lies for answers
You and open flames
God knows I'm gone and I just want you to come on down
Lord there's a storm in my head and if all these Sins are mine and I've done wrong I want you to Oh I just want you to come on down
I fear again like then I lost my way
Shout to god to bring my sunny day

One of my favorite Lanegan songs. He's like 30 years old here but he was always an old soul, wasn't he? RIP Mark! EDIT (Feb 23 2024): A lot of disagreement about his age here so I looked it up to confirm. Mark was born November 25, 1964. Live at the Moore was recorded on April 29, 1995. So that means he was, in fact, 30 years old in this video.

To me this song is about a man who has destroyed his relationship with everyone around him by abusing drugs to the point even if he becomes sober he can never go back to how it was before. Mark Lanegan's voice represents the narrator's internal struggle, knowing he is fucked up beyond repair but he can't help but want the old days back. Layne's voice represents his struggle with other people, there is nostalgia in his voice. He wants things to go back to before he pushed everyone away but he's begging them. When Mark's voice returns we know that Layne's cry for help failed. Layne's final lines "I fear again like then I've lost my way, shout to God to bring my sunny day." He has given up hope of mending his relationships. I could write a book about this song, and a lot of Layne's other lyrics. Maybe someday I will.

Layne's voice compliments Lanegan's beautifully. Layne live was pure passion, intensity and we get to know why this young man was able to connect so beautifully with hi audience. To be able to sing like this live speaks volumes for his amazing voice and unique sound of making everything sound beautiful, especially pain.
