Truth

300 was already over the top. It didn't need spoofing.

If you're listening to this after watching the film, you deserved it

AIRPLANE= CLASSIC. MEET THE SPARTANS= ATTROCIOUS SHIT

"Always beware of madcap" It makes it sound like some hideous kind of toxic mushroom.

I love good doctor has such unlimited contempt for this film. Especially when he says "I could be flinging my teeth down...it be less annoying". Or when he says that his review of 300 had better jokes than this film.

I had a housemate whose taste was cheap B-Movie. This is the kind of stuff that was blasting from his bedroom every evening. He always wanted us to come sit and watch with him, but it was always movies like "Transponster 7" starring someone who looked vaguely like Jason Statham.

Best thing about this movie is Carmen Electa

I find it really funny that the likes for this review are currently at 300. Was gonna give the video a like, but didn't want to ruin that number.

that blue screen gag is actually quite clever.

I think the point he was making was that they stretched it out too long, killing the joke.

I do love it when Mark gets so apoplectic he loses the ability to finish his insults because he's already moved onto the next one. 😂 One clean shot to the temple, doc, nice and clean. You don't have to kill it by repeatedly kicking it in the fork until the sac bursts and it bleeds to death. Although this approach is infinitely more amusing.

It was actually a poetry recital by Grunthos the Flatulant, the greatest poet of the Azgoths of Kria.

its totally worth it. its the only good thing about bad movies. sometimes i wanna make a deliberately horrible movie just to hear kermode rant about it

Someone I know actually paid to go and see this at the cinema. At the time I literally considered not being friends with him anymore - no hyperbole aside, it pretty much ruined him as a person in my eyes.

Here's the big difference between Airplane and films like Meet the Spartans; you can, just like I did, laugh your ARSE OFF at Airplanes without having any idea whatsoever what they're referring to. Meet the Spartans is only funny with the source material close to mind [if even then].

I remember seeing this in a cinema in Galway when it came out. It was the first film I can call one of the worst comedies I've seen.

I really need to watch Space Balls or The Naked Gun again. I haven't seen an affectionate film spoof for a long-time- or for that matter, a funny one.

ferris wheel Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story isn't perfect, but I'd watch that in a second over anything from the makers of Date Movie.

I feel the same sadness about what's happened to the parody genre. I think that Hot Shots [maybe Hot Shots Part Deux] is the last good parody movie [unless you count the Naked Gun movies as parodies then i'll definitely give you them], there's not one good parody movie that's been made since then. I'll understand if people like Scary Movie [i never really did] even though the Scream films are funnier, but any of the other ones [date movie, epic movie etc] NO :)

They used some of the original actors 😂😂

I must disagre on 1 point. Date movie, Epic Movie and this SUCK the first 3 Scary Movies. they are crass toilet humoured spoofs. but they are funny in thier own way or at least WAY funnier than all the other movie spoofs made by the same team afterwards

Rented Meet The Spartans on DVD because I thought it would be so bad it's good (like The Room). I was wrong. It was on for about 5 minutes and was so bad I was in agony for those 5 minutes. The guys who do these movies are bastards who make money from idiots (like me) Sean Maguire should be ashamed. From Grange Hill to this. I know actors are sometimes desperate for work, but this ? I am deeply sorry for renting this movie and for therefore being partially to blame for it by being a customer.

I quite liked it myself.

It's an insult to the comedy genre.

Can I just make a truly horrifying point? Vampires Suck (the Twilight 'parody' done by the guys who did Meet the Spartans and all the other garbage) was total junk, yet took MORE money than Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. What's the phrase? Oh yeah...I don't want to live on this earth anymore. Whoever it is who keeps going to see these terrible films and giving them the money to keep making them...FUCKING STOP IT. NOW.

I quite enjoyed it. But the jokes did go on too long.

If your for real then christ your taste and your intelligence are fucking shite

the worst film i have ever seen. walked out of the cinema after 30mins (only stayed that long because i paid so much for tickets).

Somehow it did make a tiny amount of profit (possibly by way of the plethora of product placements) which is why we unfortunately got further movies from the two geniuses). There's very little to challenge it as worst movie ever.

I can't handle these "spoof" genre movies. So much cringe and they can't even mock something right.

I bet Kermode wouldn't say the Spartans are 'camp' these days. Too triggering.
