Mark Bradford in "Paradox" - Season 4 - "Art in the Twenty-First Century" | Art21

Ойын-сауық

Art21 proudly presents an artist segment, featuring Mark Bradford, from the "Paradox" episode in Season 4 of the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series.
"Paradox" premiered in November 2007 on PBS.
Using a combination of signage from the city streets, including business advertisements and merchant posters, twine, and glue, Mark Bradford produces wall-sized paintings and installations that are a reflection of “the conditions that are going on at that particular moment at that particular location,” he says. In one installation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Bradford uses video to juxtapose two events-a celebratory Martin Luther King Day parade in Los Angeles, and a busy Muslim marketplace in Cairo.
Mark Bradford was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1961. Learn more about the artists at: art21.org/artist/mark-bradford/

I have always thought that great artists always build their story into their art and that is what makes their art so compelling because it is the immediate reaction to genuine experience. Mark Bradford does this with every work. To purchase a work by Bradford is to purchasing that experience and that history, that piece of a life story. What kind of price can you put on that which is priceless? Young up and coming artists take note... your story imbues your art with value. Not Tik Tok... Not Instagram... Just really well crafted art that tells your story.
