Art on 60 Minutes: Mark Bradford
In 2019, Anderson Cooper turned the spotlight on Bradford, an abstract artist whose work often deals with complex social issues.
"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

I love how his clients are honest. They "don't get his art", but they appreciate him connecting his to the community.
This mans work is amazing....you can look at his canvas a 100 times and see something different each time❤️
I love his take about art value. I fully agree, art has value, value of all kinds. Personal value. Emotional value. Political impact value. Material value. Communicational value. Spiritual value. Mental health value. Financial value. Self-esteem value. Rising out of poverty value. Love value. Don't get tricked by price tags or people trying to make money by trading art like stock. Capitalism does not determine the value of art, neither does any other -ism.
The last couple of lines re: value….MAN. That was incredible.
Never heard of him. Now I’m so intrigued by him. Love his work

I ❤ every minute of this. Mark Bradford: Yes,yes, yasss!
Mark I’ve seen your work around LA but, qweeeen it is SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT I KNOW YOUR STORY. Soul wizard, fixed me right up with your magical art. Don’t stop. Thank you for you.
Moving. Abstract art with a social voice. Love it. As a a human he seems like a person who will positively impact the community he came from. As an artist he'll impact the minds of those who see his art.
I love him. Such a great guy
Yes! From a former hairstylist and artist. Go Mark!
What a moment of accomplishment. Well done.
Hearing this person speak is inspiring! Art is important! Great interview ♥️
I love his decided confidence! His work is breathtaking.
What a GORGEOUS MAN
Exceptional art. Outstanding story. Didn't know anything about Bradford until sometime a year ago.
An exceptional person and artist.
He's six foot eight and literally has to fold to hug people. Never seen a Bradford... But I do like what I see. Hugs from Katrinka from the San Francisco Bay Area Hi Anderson
LoveLoveLove his ART.. Thank You Mr. Bradford💕
Beautiful art
Thank you Anderson Cooper for this great profile on the stupendous and exquisite Mark Bradford a visionary, brilliant artist and community activist. Mark Bradford is correct about value, its why his work is imbued with so much. We need visionaries to light the way forward. The map is not the territory.
I’d like to visit his old neighborhood and all that it offers! Love his footsteps to his success! Amazing and a lot of work too. So gracious of him to give back where he grew up, too! He’s a amazing !!❤️
Bradford is just brilliant!
Absolutely brilliant. His parting words in this video are one to live by. Hats off!
Don't wait for someone to tell you your work has value, KNOW that it has value, not just monetary but societal. I love him.
Home Depot better give him a discount and stock options.
As an artist, I find so much inspiration in his work and hist story. Bravo Mark!
Phenomenal 🖼 ✊🏾
I was so touched by this interview. He is an amazing human.
Love love love. So what I want to know: What does he do with the layers he peels off of his pieces? Does he use them to begin another piece? I'd love it if he used them to make books, for some reason.
I love his work now that I understand it. My awakening was when I saw the Civil War painting compared to his rendition. Now I'm inspired to say more with my art.
Amazing
Wow! 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
He is so incredible!!
He is incredibly creative
Brilliant.

I really like (some of) Mark Bradford's paintings, but they're often so large that even if you can afford one, you'll never find the space to hang it. Some are 12*15 feet. Who has walls like that?

How can it be "abstract" if it deals with social issues???

some kind of pretty...
kind of have to be honest it's intriguing in a way how people that don't have any art abilities and have to go to school to learn anything about art they're just selling literally pieces of garbage I'm a self-taught master painter meaning that I spend hundreds of hours doing photo hyper realism oil paintings I live in s*** northern California and I don't know I read a lot of posts about people just being nice and I don't think there's any such thing as realism anymore a lot of people make art they don't know how to so they make garbage

How do you define "Great" Black Art: read as many articles in the New York Times as you can, then paint it literally. Over and over and over...

Can a modern black artist do anything other than political issues surrounding themselves or black people? Is there any black artist out there? That can be just an artist not an activist/artist?? By the way, I'm p***** because I'm mark Bradford, and I'm an artist 2. He beat me to the front of the stage
shame on you CBS/ 60 Minutes for not having captions for deaf/hard of hearing. Anderson, are you suppose to be the people's rights champion? I am more of an artist than you. dang
