In that specific track, do wall dodge for red shells are (relatively) easy. I guess is why he doesn’t take item there. Also there was a car and maybe for that moment he decided not go for the item. I don’t think he does that always in all the tracks and situations. But they needed to say some “characteristic” for every player and just found that moment for him.

Gyrodos is indeed a very strong player, however... Kevo has higher peaks than him in every completed lounge season.

@@Jetliner gyrodos is more consistent though, kevo dropped all the way to ruby last season, but both of them are very strong players, and they're very close in mmr right now. however, in clan wars gyrodos, or rather his clan ze beats out rk consistently, it doesn't say much about individual skill but I'd say gyrodos is currently as strong if not even stronger than kevo right now

@@Jetliner oh i didn't know he has higher playcount, however you do tend to average out even if you play more, like you will just gain and lose at the same range of your skill level. but yeah i thoroughly disagree that kevo IS the strongest north american player, he's one of them though

Fumihiko Tachiki sounds hilarious when is completly out of the usual seriousness of his characters. I still remember when he was *Kratos* in _Tales of Symphonia_ for example. xD

Why does Nintendo give so much attention to tournaments for Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon yet never has anything for Smash Bros

More people should play Double Dash competitively. Needs a comeback. In that game if you were skilled enough, you could dodge items bc of power sliding. That meant you had to get super creative when attacking bc your opponent could potentially avoid your attack. It's like neutral game in FGC games but in Mario Kart

Japan's method of qualification was extremely difficult, using a tournament similar to the NA Opens to determine the final 4 that would compete in person. All 4 that made it were 11000mmr+, and Purple won out, so still a JPN National Team representative, which is pretty good.

​@@VidadeTi from what I recall, Japan had a 90 minute limit (maybe 2 hours?) to play their races, which gives far less time to reroll rooms. I would know... I only spent the entire 4 hours avoiding any player I recognized to qualify for the March 2023 tournament

That combo isn't viable anymore. When Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass came out, Nintendo significantly nerfed Waluigi and the Wild Wiggler.
