This episode of the Marine Time Machine is about the Navajo Code Talkers. As we observe Navajo Code Talkers Day, we remember these American heroes who created the only military code to never have been deciphered.

Joseph Dredd I don't think so, young man. Are you a Marine? If you are, Chesty Puller would be embarrassed. If you're not, you are no authority to talk about Marine Corps History.

We don't hear as much about the Chocktaw 'Code Talkers', but they certainly earned our respect! This article mentioned the Choctaw Indians Indians in WWI, I had never heard of them before! WHY NOT? We should know just as much about them, how much they did and who they were! Even tho I assume they are all gone now, we should know who they were, what difference they made, and how much honor they also deserve! There is much publicity about the Montford Point Marines, are there other other special groups that are Americans, but not white or European descent that have played maybe small, but very important parts in protecting and aiding our military? America is a very diverse country, maybe we should know, and appreciate more about small, diverse groups that played an important part in our history!

Also used in the Great War by Cherokee (and lesser the Choctaw) which pioneered the code for the Second World War. Obviously during the Second World War technology was better suited to advance this code program. I believe it was the second battle of the Somme which saw first use of Cherokee code units
