Why did she lip the first chorus??? She could've done something different and creative instead.

That's my same question. But i think her falsetto is not very much accessible in live shows during this era. As we know that most part of this song especially in the first chorus she used falsetto in the recording when she was of course more relaxed. I wish she just changed it like what she did in Divas Live.

The first chorus is breathy. Breathy vocals dry the vocal chords real fast, so when she switches registers it becomes more painful and harder because the chords are dry. Aside from that, the catalog she performs during this time is really taxing, especially most are whispered and belted. Lipping the first chorus gives her more leeway at the climax of the song. Saving her chords for the climax is her safest way to finish the song like she did.
