It's a different type of intimidation. Some people are scared when they are being shouted at. Others are intimidated by smouldering looks and disappointment. Gordon encapsulates one philosophy and Marco the other, so both will scare different types of people. More importantly, both are brilliant chefs.

a simple "what is it?" from Marco is way more intimidating than the whole Joe Bastianich dish-to-the-trash-can scene.

Eh I mean the Donkey line is from Hell's Kitchen. Chefs who come to Hell's Kitchen aren't coming to be mentored or taught, they're there to prove their worth to Ramsay and get a job from him usually. Masterchef participants aren't even pros most of the time

Marco is just as fierce if not worse than Gordon when it comes to temper. Thing is this is master chef lol even gordon is as nice as it comes on masterchef. But gordon has said time and time again its different when you are a home cook on the side and when your a top chef making dumb mistakes on things like Hells Kitchen. To Gordon, these professional chefs should know better than make those kinds of mistakes which pisses him off.

This is why Marco is one of the best. He’s not overdramatic or flamboyant. He’s intimidating yet calm, and is able to criticise yet inspire hope in chefs with just a few quiet words.

You could see the blue team was not pleased with the results but still managed to stay together, apologize for their mistakes and give credit to the one who did the better job. Absolutely amazing.

Watching Marco speak is like watching Hannibal Lecter speak. He's eloquent, calm, perhaps even charming, and an unparalleled genius in his craft...yet somehow you feel like if you make the wrong move he'll serve your liver with fava beans and a nice Amarone (because it pairs better with liver than Chianti).

I quite liked John before this. He was nice, he was another likeable contestant. But after what he did to his team in this episode I really disliked him. It was a team challenge and they had a good thing going. Poor Georgia. I started to notice that he was actually quite arrogant, always going against the judges advice because he thought he knew better.

I love this! All the judges passed their positivity to the last girl who did all her work in 5 mins like its sooooo sweet they trully admire her.

Marco is real. No acting and over exagerating involved. Very observant to very little details that created the experience of the taste.

He was a terrifying chef in an era of terrifying chefs. Some of the stories are legendary but he’d be in huge trouble these days behaving the way he did. But I trained in the 90s so he’ll always be the king for me.

They’re so calm with their unhappiness....I feel like I have ptsd from MC America I keep expecting yelling and dishes being thrown in the trash plate and all😂

The attention that Marco has is more fitting, and he has really good insight about what to do. Giving knowledge and direction.

Now this is the reason I like MasterChef Australia, they have four teams. It’s better than two. Also the sportsmanship is amazing, they clap for their comrades. While in MasterChef USA, they insult and tease their competition

Which speaks volumes about the differences between the cultures.

Marco just has such a presence, when he speaks, you listen. Amazing chef.

The way Marco chews is intimidating. You can see how thorough he is, his tastebuds judging every single atom of food.

I love how everyone in MC Australia seems genuinely happy for each other all the time!

Marco is absolutely bloody amazing. He starts off with we've all made mistakes. I love this man and see him as a spiritual guide.

I cant imagine getting a compliment from someone like Marco in regards to something I cooked. She must be on top of the world.

Not necessarily. She could be a medical representative of a pharmaceutical distribution company. The ones who market and sell legitimate medicine or medical products to clinics and hospitals. They receive either a fixed income plus commission or just commission. Nonetheless, it's legit.

I can't imagine how it must feel for a cook/chef to receive compliments from Marco.

I love how the contestants support each other. Cooking is not only about technique, its also about love. How come you cook a delicious dish if your mind contaminated by negative feeling because of ambition to proof how good you are.

Marco's gaze when he isn't impressed, is as much as or even more powerful than a single Gordon Ramsay's insult lol

Marco has such a unique smooth voice that’s also very daunting 😰😅

The contestants on Masterchef Australia are great. Very supportive of each other and all great cooks.

@@SantomPh-- Thank you. It never ceases to amaze me how readily people bash the potential relevance of others, simply because they don't carry name recognition. I'm sure every single person on that judging panel has a good reason to be there. There are very few people at Marco's level; yet, I doubt he'd waste his time insulting his fellow judges. That's not the measure of a man of worth. * Chef George Calombaris has been awarded 16 Michelin stars in total for his work in the kitchen. That's one less than Gordon Ramsay. The man knows what he's about. * Chef Gary Mehigen is a Michelin Star chef who's headed two of the most successful restaurants in Australia. * Matt Preston is a respected food critic, food journalist and writer. The man not only knows food, he respects what it takes to do it at the highest levels.

Benjamin Barr I didn’t say that the bread wasn’t messed up. I was implying the action of him covering it up with the napkin was over-dramatic and corny.

@@FirstLast-pk2of Exactly. I found myself shrugging through half of this video. The music, the crying, the anguish... In reality, it's just a few people cooking a meal for a chef. End of story. There is nothing meaningful about any of this. Mindless TV viewers fall for this nonsense.

I love how this one is wholesome, has teamwork and Marco is a gentle giant. But the Portuguese and American versions are just after blood xD
