Marcelo Garcia: Under Hook Control Hook Sweep
Спорт
2 Part Lesson - Marcelo clinches for a sweep: If you encounter difficulty setting up quick controls for a Hook Sweep, pummel for Double Under-hooks to help break down your opponent's posture. If you cannot clasp your hands together, switch your arm out from underneath and lock your opponent's head and arm together with a Gable Grip. Release your opponent's head so that you can concentrate on holding their shoulder as you sit up for a Hook Sweep. You can lift and reverse them or even kick out their knee to remove their base for the sweep. [05:45] Don't let your opponent bring their arm in front of your face to frame and possibly escape. Use your hooks and clinch to pull their head close to yours before setting up your sweep.

Getting back into BJJ after a long hiatus. This will be a great move to add back to my arsenal. Thanks to the GOAT for all the many little details to one move. But what is great about this move is it can be chained with others. The fact the setup is based on a faux submission lends to that versatile of using it to set up many things. I could see if it fails and they bring their hand across your face/chest and sit up, an arm drag could be implemented. Marcelo inspired me years ago when I got my purple belt over a decade ago, and he inspires me as I try to flake off the rust and get back on the mat. Thanks!!!

I’m just a white belt but watching Marcelo has made me fall in love with BJJ! Hopefully one day I get to meet him!

Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie and Rafael Mendes. Can't decide each of them is the GOAT.

As a 220lbs white belt that doesn’t like being in guard, this is an awesome sweep 👍

me : “sigh*....the lengths a person will go to, to not get raped.”
You can see Gordon copier MGs style
The goat! It's also a 20 year old sweep technique that John Donaher would unnecessarily call a Japanese name like it's a new move.

It's just his preference for the sake of teaching and thinking in terms of jiu jitsu. He obviously doesn't intend for it. To come across as a rebranding of something new. It's also probably because it's easier for the sake of order and being organised. Also you don't have to explain every concept. If students understand the term. It makes teaching much more efficient and easier.
