HTP-1 unless you need more than 16 channels and DTS-X Pro then just spring for the AV1

Big difference in how they implement Auro-3D 7706 limited channels HTP-1 uses middle height/tops for VOG 8805 not as limited and flexible Cost wise though… let that be your guide along with your speaker layout. Not sure any of them would disappoint.

Choose the Marantz AV 10 unless you want more speakers like a Trinnov or Storm Audio.

Those aren't balanced inputs on the Marantz pre/pro; they're balanced pre-outs, so you can connect a power amplifier with balanced inputs.

The 8805a has a stereo XLR in as well.

HTP-1 is a no brainer then. Especially with class D amplification getting better and cheaper. I’ve had mine for six months and even though it’s pricey, I have no regret. The balanced inputs has me scratching my head…doesn’t the AVR convert it to digital for processing anyway? Digital media converted to analog from a “great”DAC, then converted back to digital, processed, back to analog, then amplified? Unless the AVR has a direct analog pathway to the output stage it is a useless feature.

Totally agree. The extra D/A defeats the purpose of using the XLR in.

It’s possible that there is a pure direct mode that goes through a volume control then on to the amps but could be wrong.

The Monolith. Marantz is listless and overpriced middle shelf quality.
