    Don't ever feel discouraged about your materials, if you're working hard and you're drawing, you will improve and you can still have a great time. The higher end products may have a higher ceiling, meaning that they can inherently do more, but that doesn't mean you need them, they're luxuries, not necessities. As long as you have a drawing/painting utensil and a blank piece to work on, you can draw amazing things.

    I started using Charcoals earlier today and as far as tones go they're perfect for drawing black areas. The only trouble is they make a bit of a mess so you have to be careful not to smudge it too badly.

  • @ASOtheprO
    @ASOtheprO4 жыл бұрын

    I'm really good at drawing, I've been drawing since childhood, but I always draw with mechanical pencils. I went through a pencil and inking phase when I was younger, but I was never too good at tracing over my work. I always wanted to be a basketball player, and I was never good enough to actually consider it as a career (don't get me wrong I can still hoop I WILL FUCK UP ANYBODY HERE IN BASKETBALL STRAIGHT UP 😤😤😤) As of now, I'm an undergraduate in college, in a Liberal Arts College majoring in chem, I'm aiming at being a doctor or a orthopedic surgeon for sports medicine, but I wish that I just focused on drawing. After watching multiple animes, and reading the mangas of Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer (these mangas are still in progress), I've been motivated to work towarda creating a story as my second job, because I'm more motivated about it than my actual medical career or getting my M.D. During this Spring 2020 Quarantine, and ever since summer 2019, I've been drawing like crazy. I finished 3 drawing books and just ordered a new one, and I actually want and hope to create a manga. These are just sketches and gathering my thoughts, but I've actually been researching what makes a great story and I've started writing down my story as well. I hope one day I can truly release a manga that will eventually be depicted as an Anime. TV shows impact children, teenagers, young and old, and are ways to spread messages and true meanings and deep principles about the world. Almost all stories are based on one principal moral, or are made to prove something. Telling a story is like telling a joke. It's just knowing alm the pieces of the joke, and putting it together slowly from the base up until the audience gets the joke.

    Woah !!! Just read your comment and that's just insane the way we both almost have the same story. I started drawing from the first grade and I'm so into drawing. I like basketball too I play pretty well. I'm a M.D. and wanna go further to specialize in cardio thoracic surgery. I like being a doctor but I feel like missing something since I really wish to hit the top and spark making a great manga something that will be labelled as a masterpiece . I wanna beat Eichiro Oda manga-wise. Oh that sounds unfeasible. I'm from Cameroon in Africa. And I'm writing a big story now along with the script. By the end of this year I aim to have my first chapter published.

I don't trace with marker because I can't really make it look the same or as good as a pencil. I have all colors of sharpie including the rare 80s markers. I have fine tip and super fine, chisel tip pretty much all tips.

    One thing I saw that was missing, is if you're using a dip pen, have some dip pen/nib cleaner. There's specialized dip pen cleaner out there, but if you're tight on money, I suggest using 99% isopropyl alcohol, it works fine and evaporates quick so it doesn't effect the nib at all as long as you wipe it off.

    Hey what about those use a pad to draw is that still good enough? Because I honestly digitally drawing felt alot smoother for me once I started. At first was like "Oh hell no, I can't do this! Nuh uh! Nope!" Then after 1 in half week later, I couldn't stop drawing. In fact, I seriously kid you not, drawing digitally made my traditional drawings feel so much better! I was freaking the hell out about how much my art style changed because of one week! Mostly thanks to WhytManga for the tips. But besides that I hope that its still okay to draw manga even though its digitally.

  • @ruralgoblin

    @ruralgoblin

    7 жыл бұрын

    chrisbernard15 99% of all manga work is referenced. Not because people aren't imaginative or are bad and forced to use pictures off the Internet, but because you can't draw something without seeing it or something similar. You can't tell someone to draw the eifful tower if they haven't seen it, can you? Now, when it comes to making pages, that depends on the style. For a very realistic or really detailed manga, it can take anywhere from 3-4 hours going from scratch, some even longer. If it's a less realistic, more cartoonish style, it usually takes around 2 hours. This may scare you, but it is necessary to achieve your goals

    ... You do realize the work that goes into a professional manga page, right? Sketching the page may take 2-4 hours. Inking, screening, dialoge, and color for special pages. Your looking at a days work for a page of professional work. Manga artists in Japan churn out 17 pages a week, but that is with 2-3 assistants working full time and the main artist working 80+ hrs a week. Overall 6-8 hours a page split up among different people.
