A B4 piece of paper measures 250 × 353 mm or 9.8 × 13.9 inches. From what I can gather here, if someone wanted to mimic the paper used, they could try using Strathmore bristol paper. They could use the Strathmore 11 x 14 (inches) smooth bristol in the 300 series, or the 20 x 30 (inches) plate bristol in the 500 series which can be cut down into four parts. It would be more cost effective to go with the 11 x 14 sheets I think but I imagine professionals may prefer to go with plate over smooth. If the I-C or Deleter brand of manga paper isn't available for people outside of Japan, using Strathmore seems like a good choice. Plus someone could with the right printer print out their guide lines onto the bristol board if their printer has a back feeder. I personally have been doing this with 9 x 12 pages. BONUS TIP: If you prefer to do pencil digitally, but prefer drawing inks with real ink/brushes/pend, you can actually do that easily if you are using the printing method. All you need to do after you have sketched everything out in a program like photoshop is set the color mode to CMYK, then change the layer properties so only cyan is on. From there, adjust the opacity to be under 50%. I prefer 25% personally, but the ideas is the same. The less blue in the end, the easier clean up will be when you scan in your pages. Hope that helps all those who are interested in making manga and comics.

I bought manga studio 5 last year before i graduated highschool. i know how to work out comics with it but the only thing i don't know is how to cut off the edges of my pages after i finish it how do you do that with your pages? :3

What about full spread pages? Do you have to draw in the gutter area? If so, how far...till the edge? Besides, I 've seen single pages (in opposition to full spreads) that have art bleeds even where the pages meet, so why not draw there? As I understand a full spread must follow the same rules, otherwise it would b weird.

I draw digitally and I was wondering if a printing company online has its pages set to 5x7.5 as paper size do I set that size in clip studio or would I go slightly bigger?

I would do it on actually two pages in you sketchbook for example and then copy it over with a light tablet maybe.

since the scanning video still isn't made, I'm wondering which scanner you use.

What alternative types of paper can you use when you practice inking with nibs and inks? i dont want to waste deleter papers for practice. 135 kg is 157 gsm and i've tried using 200 gsm already but the ink just blots. need help....

Canson Manga Paper can and should be used for manga right?

scanning in color, there is a way to just use the RGB tab things in ur editor.... I clearly don't have his memorized, but googling how to scan manga manuscripts should result in some decent tutorials

Anyway you.could do a short video even just a short explaining the difference between Deleter Manga paper like this. Theres different colors and lettered Deleter packages of paper. There kinda pricey unless u know what ur doing. I tried explaining it to my online class but 2 be honest I couldn't find alot of info on the other ones and the pics information in like Amazon was to blurry to read. How do I do this digitally? I want to be able to draw manga that is formatted correctly. I'm extremely anxious about messing it up. There's so much conflicting information on dimensions and pixel size it makes me lose my mind. How do I get these guidelines on say Sketchbook or Procreate? Procreate has A4 size but no guidelines.

Tbh, size and similar isn't really imprtant, it's the proportion.....These days, there isn't really any set rule, you can make comics on pretty much anything and still produce results that are fit for print, as long as the shape is right. Of course, thicker high quallity paper, and larger size allow for greater ammount of detail.

See my how to scan video, the guidelines don’t show when you scan if you increase the contrast of the scan or scan in lineart mode. Depends on the scanner too a bit

When you scan, and save the file in jpg in that video, you said in the mac you went to adjust colour, reduce the saturation and the colours will go away, how can i do that in windows?, so that's means in the b4 sheet with blue guidelines has a drawing, doing it in this way the blue guideline will not appear?, and then you can be able to work the rest of the drawing page in clip studio?@@WhytMangaOdunze

Don't you think is better right in the moment you draw with the pencils over the paper A ''with the guidlines'', scan it and then in clip studio opend a new layer over it and start inking?, or even better NOT to buy the paper and just work directly the drawing with the clip studio, I assume that when it's open a new sheet in the Clip studio, the size of the sheet is the same that the actual paper size b4, is that correct?

If the cutting off mark is where they are going to cut the page for a fact what's the point of drawing past that line to the ruler? And why cant I have text between the frame dotted lines and the cut off mark if the text or art is inside that mark? I honestly dont get it...

The cut-off mark doesn't tell you exactly where the editing process is going to cut, it is like and estimate, let me explain. You wanna put the text on the safe zone because passed that line the text is taking the risk of being cut, this due to that some editing process doesn't cut exactly where the line is, some do cut exactly where the line is as others cut a few millimeters beyond the line or even inside the line, so... you don't want to end up with your text cut-off.

have u ever thought of introducing your manga in the US comics ...i mean u have a good stoty in addition to ur drawing which is not so japanese its like the xmen comics .. i realy advise u to try making your comic one of the americans comics ..it would get more popularity if they agreed to publish it for ya

can't you just use normal paper, A3 OR A4 TOO

At first I was really disappointed when you said not to draw or text beyond the dotted box. Then, I read the instructions that come with the actual package. They said the next biggest box (The solid blue line) is the absolute limit for printing. Is the smaller box for manga and the larger box for western comics? I want to do western-style comics. Someone please respond ASAP!

No, these dotted lines are mostly for panels/speech bubbles and the space between these dotted lines and solid lines are margins of your finished page (there can be some fragments of panels/bubbles but nothing important like faces/words because there's a possibility that they can be cutted a little during printing). Hope it helped you!

It really isn't. I'm selftaught and atm I'm going thru the whole subjekt matter you get to lern in a standart art collage.... And I was crazy surprised, when I saw how little that actually is. Just search on youtube for tutorials about composition, color theory, anatomy ... just stuff you want to lern about. Maybe read a couple of good art book... you can find a lot of recommendations just by googling. I the end it's all about milage. You get better, the more you do and practice it. Hope that gave you some sense of direction. Cheers

not necessary. some of the best are "self taught" but school can be helpful. I went to school for art but before that I was "self taught" It all depends how effort you put into your success and what you want to do

Your stopic videos are helpful but not ones like these as Im a digital drawer now because it will be cheaper for me thanks for your wisdom can you do more videos where you discuss manga dynamics like a tip video?

Please stop misleading young artists by saying "replicate that shonen manga style". This is just a standard size for print. It's not exclusive to shonen manga. Artists can use the same paper to create whatever manga they want.

Deleter means it can easily scan. But if you put alcohol markers it will damage the scanner
