As others have pointed out, this is a unique take on Sound of Silence. The original has a melancholy feel to it, a sense of loss and bleakness. The Disturbed cover communicates a person dealing with their inner demons and the demons of society at large. Malinda's cover, this is the first time I've felt hope from this song. It has the sense that the silence is beautiful and good, that the vision will germinate to become something more, that there is something new and alive bursting forth in this person's life and eventually in the lives of others.

As someone who studied music for 20 years and has listened to dozens of world-class vocalists, I have to say that you have one of the most purely angelic voices I've ever heard. You have exceptional vibrato control and your timbre is enthralling. You use melisma tastefully. You have phenomenal dynamic control of your voice and you're able to mix effortlessly. You make sure every passage is moving toward your intended direction through proper spin. Really, really excellent.

So beautiful. I have one request Malinda. When you make it big, and you will, please don’t let the record companies change your sound. So many artists allow themselves to be molded into something different than who they are. Your work is haunting and enchanting. Please don’t let anyone take that away. Oh and one more request: Please sing Scarborough Fair.

Those are my favorite moments of music discovery. When the whole world around you just seems to fall away and everything is just…perfect and mesmerizing and…nothing and everything. So hard to describe. But when when the song is over, it almost like a sense of loss, a heaviness.

Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools" said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence"

First row musicians of world class symphonic bands strive to reach this perfection of sound and emotion. This voice is a first row mentor. Flawless sound, crisp and real emotion here; enough to reach the soul. The world, every ear, really needs to hear this and gain the same inspiration that we lucky few have enjoyed. Sparks the nuances of love and appreciation within my soul every time I replay this. A classical symphony of one genuine voice genius. Why the word genuine? Check out Malinda's personal story trail and find out why. It's bound to inspire. Trust me.

S&G created it, and their version is immortal. Disturbed's cover is raw, emotional, sad and angry, and is amazing. Puddles Pity Party did a version that I love; he did the ending I always thought the song should have. MALINDA has created a version that is ethereal, otherworldly, like our whole listening experience might have been a dream- a dream that is truer than reality, which is exactly what I have always felt the original was going for.

OMG, that voice opened my heart. Paul and Artie would certainly be proud of you Malinda. So pure and clear, like what I think an angel would sound like. And without all the vocal gyrations we hear with so many of today's singers. I first heard this song 58 years ago when I was in college - I knew there was something very special about it. Recently I heard a so-called music critic comment that Paul Simon's music had no longevity - he also included Neil Young and Joni Mitchell along with Simon. Now, 58 years later, we have a young, accomplished singer keeping this timeless piece alive.
