Shop Fox equipment tends to be repainted Grizzly stuff at a higher price due to the better warranty. I've heard mixed reviews about the quality of Grizzly saws, but I've had good experiences with their customer service regarding other tools I've bought from them. Laguna has severe customer service issues (see all the Fusion reviews on Rockler). The Maksiwa looks like a good choice with the 2.5 hp motor. I don't care for the two-piece fence rails, but you can always replace the fence ... not so much the motor. However, rust on the table top upon delivery makes me concerned about their quality control, though. In the $1k price point you end up having to make a lot of compromises. Its not until you get to ~$2k that you can buy the intro Harveys and Grizzly 1023s and other saws you can keep for life.

Thanks for the review, just what I was looking for to compare with other new saws and used Delta Unisaws. Got it at Acme for $1007 with discount code today (July 4). Got the mobile base at Amazon for $49. I'm running 8/2 since I have a 220 bandsaw that needs the same line feed. (50ft 8/3 for $128).

I just bought the same saw 2 months ago. Was frustrated with the lack of information on it but took the leap. After two months of work, I can definitively say that I agree with EVERYTHING you've said. That damn fence irritates me more than anything but I'll tell you what, it's a GREAT saw. Powerful and honestly you get used to the quirkiness of the saw. For the price point, it's well worth it. On another note, their customer service has been great. I had a few minor hiccups at delivery. The fence didn't come with one of the two plastic pieces that keep the fence in place when locked. I contacted them and they quite literally said "wow. that's the most random thing we've missed" and overnighted me the part free of charge. In talking to them, you can tell they're actively making this saw better for future buyers. For the price point, I'm 100000% glad I went with this saw and thanks for making this video for future "Dave's" who were struggling between the many budget options.

Awesome! Thanks for the video! Glad I checked back as I've only seen the other two videos with less info. Looks to be a good option for me when I get a new shop built.

Good review and thanks for posting it - I have been looking and comparing saws in this category the past couple of days and couldn't find much at all on these saws so this is perfect timing and living up the channels name. I'm assuming the entire table is cast iron right? Not steel wings.

Hello and thank you for the great video review. I'm curious about the rolling stand it's on. Does it come with that? or did you add that ? Thanks

Thanks Frank. I purchased the rolling stand separately for ~$60 from Home Depot. It is a “WEN Heavy Duty 500 lbs. Capacity Universal Mobile Base for Tools and Machines”. It has no flex with the weight of this saw and is about half the price of name brand competitors with the same design.

Thanks so much for this review. Like you, I just finished the assembly of my SC1100X (bought from BIS) and trying to get it calibrated. I have 2 issues that I am unsure how to correct. First, the blade is .022 out of square to the groves in the table. No where is there any instruction on how to fix this. I have fixed other saws by loosening trunions and moving the saw assembly. However, while I assume this may be the same, I am reluctant to just start turning bolts. Is there an easy way to get to the trunions? Secondly, I can't get the blade to reach 90 degrees. The closest I get is 90.7 degrees (angle finder is on the left side of the blade. Again, no instruction or guidance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Pat, glad to help. I put the digital angle finder on the right side of the blade as I face the front of the saw. To help you with your questions, I just posted a quick video to hopefully make things easier for you and others.

thank and you are correct, there are no other reviews on this saw. Hybrid makes the price make sense. Do like the 2.5 horse motor and it seems as if it's the same fence that Laguna and Harvey use. One question: Did you put a straight edge on it with a flash light to see if it was flat? thanks again

Thanks Scott. I did test the fence against a straight edge and no light passed through between.

sorry not the fence but the table if you could. I do with you would have run some wood thru it during the video :) I have an old contractor saw with a really bad fence so my number one need is a square and plum fence.

No worries Scott. I did the same test after I dialed in the table extensions and no light passed through.

Sorry for all the questions as I'm buying a new TS in the next 24 hours. I notice a split in the rail right behind the blade. Did the aluminum rail come in two pieces and was that an issue putting it together? Now that you know that it's a hybrid, would you buy it again after playing with for a few days? Thanks for introducing us to Maksiwa and do you think that you'll be able to upgrade the fence to something different like the Biesemeyer fence? Thanks again.

No sweat Scott, glad to help. Both the back and front rails are two pieces. No issues assembling or leveling. Regarding upgrading the fence, there is 1.5” of flat surface area on the front and back edges of the table and extensions. This is plenty for my Vega fence to mount on to without issue. We have a newborn so I’m getting in the shop at small intervals. That said, I wanted to give you and others honest answers so I just went down and ripped a board of 8/4 red oak for a proper hardwood test. The saw cut it effortlessly, no burn marks, nice and smooth👍 Full disclosure, I did install a new whiteside 50 tooth atb+r blade which is making phenomenal cuts, link here: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087YZ11J3?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
