Making The Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich At Home | But Better

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

And we thought they were unbeatable. This is the juiciest crispiest homemade fried chicken sandwich you may ever eat. Stacked tall with thick-cut homemade dill pickles with a secret ingredient. It's all good things homies.

    I finally got around to making this this evening. I didn't do the homemade buns because I have a surplus of Braum's sesame seed buns on hand, nor the pickles because I didn't want pickles. I used a Cain's-style sauce and some smoked gouda. Incredible, thanks for the recipe! Although next time I think I'm going to cut the salt and MSG in half - it's too salty for my taste.

  • @AzraelThanatos

    @AzraelThanatos

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@friedbaloniTV A lot of people don't want a lot of pickle on their sandwich. That's, very much, a thing that a lot of restaurant chains kind of worked out over time with trying different amounts. If you ask for extra, they tend to pile them on because they can be removed easily and the small number is what most people tend to want with it. The no included sauce is also something that Chick-fil-A does because most people tend to prefer and they have several optional sauces to pick from...it also means that the buns aren't a mess if you have to haul them around. They don't charge for the sauces there...unlike McDonalds or a lot of other places. Also, a toasted bun is wasted on a Chick-fil-A sandwich that you picked up...or, really, even there. Those bags keep them warm and great for longer, but the heat of the chicken tends to steam the buns.

    Your kindness may be forced sometimes, but it is ALWAYS appreciated. I choose Chik-fil-a for more than the food; it's also the service. I go to Wendy's and the person at the window literally can't even greet me, let alone greet me with a smile. We're ALL just trying to get through our day and deal with our bullshit best we can. Some people go all day, every day without a smile from someone else and that can be depressing and isolating. Every person you interact with will be affected by your attitude in some way, whether you see it or not. That's what I try to remember when I'm out and about. Helps me keep a smile on my face for others. It's definitely draining, but we hopefully get recharged in other ways.

    Just made them tonight. Some notes! -I made half of the flour mixture for the breading and it was still plenty for five thighs (I’ve found that this is the case for a lot of fried foods-the recipe typically calls for too much flour dredge) -I’ve made Josh’s buns twice before this and they always end up gigantic, which is alright, but this time I opted to make eight buns instead of six and ended up with some more “normal sized” buns. I recommend doing this, but I understand preferring the big ones as well. -More of a side note, but I don’t have a stand mixer and was able to make these buns by hand (kneading is kind of a pain in the ass but totally worth it). Seriously, even if you’ve never made bread before, I highly recommend giving these a shot -Toast your damn buns spread with soft butter in a pan. Seriously, a toasted bun is like ten times better than an I untoasted one -TJ wasn’t lying-those pickles take this to the next level. The MSG is awesome! If you’re having trouble finding it, look for “Accent” which is a brand of MSG that doesn’t say MSG anywhere on the container other than the ingredients list-it can be found in most grocery stores -I’ve been taking a page out of Kenji’s book and frying in my wok lately, and I can highly recommend it. It uses less oil than something like a dutch oven -I opted to make Josh’s Chick-Fil-A sauce instead of this mustard-mayo, and I opted to add a bit of cayenne for some heat-I suggest you do the same if you’re going to make this sauce -Finally, I decided to add a slice of pepperjack cheese to my sandwich, and while unnecessary, it was awesome Seriously though, give this one a try. It makes a mean fried chicken sandwich.

    @@enriquearias8693 Now that’s an interesting question. I always get the spicy deluxe from Chick-fil-a, and that’s a whole beast to try and conquer on its own. I’m not sure if my chicken was noticeably superior to CFA, but it was definitely at least on the same level. But seriously, these MSG pickles are something else. I’ve followed a few different pickle recipes in the past, and none of them have been able to compare to these bad boys. The homemade Chick-fil-a sauce was really good, but again, I don’t know if it was clearly superior to the original (maybe it would be if I made my own bbq sauce). And the homemade toasted buns are always outstanding. So overall yes, I’d say my sandwich was better than the equivalent from Chick-Fil-A, but the homemade pickles and buns were carrying a lot of the weight

    At its core Chick Fil A is a fast food restaurant so it needs to be quick, tasty, and most importantly affordable. And the Chick Fil A sandwich fulfils all those excellently paired with the nicest service you can get at a fast food place. But naturally as with all things if its not a 5 star restaurant that cooks meals to order perfectly then home made will always be better.

    I made it as well after recently learning and trying a copycat chik-fil-a recipe, while this was DEFINITELY really delicious, it missed that signature chik-fil-a sandwich taste which comes from brining the chicken in pickle juice for 1-2 hours and the secret to why it tastes slightly sweet is because they use powdered sugar in the breading! Tried the copycat recipe and it tasted almost identical, I got the tangy chicken flavor and the sweetness with every bite down to perfection, but it was missing something with slight which I now think was the MSG! So while this recipe is 100% a delicious chicken sandwich right out of something you’d taste at a restaurant, it’s not a chick-fil-a copycat recipe, you can’t have that signature chick-fil-a taste without the pickle juice brining/powdered sugar in the recipe.

    As a los pollos hermanos employee, I can confirm this. When we mess up, Mr. Fring just smiles at us and stares for a long time and when we get home, our apartment has been mysteriously cleaned and straightened with a note on our bed that says “sleep very very very well”. We’d much rather be yelled at, trust me.

    Josh is hands down a very creative chef however his comparisons to the "competition" are hardly apples to apples. Josh's chicken sandwich is gormet unlike the "fast food" sandwhich made by chick-fil-a. Do you think Josh could make 200 of his sandwiches in a day? Chick-fil-a does every day (except Sundays). Josh's chicken sandwich may in fact be one of the best gormet chicken sandwiches of all times but I still say chick-fil-a makes the best "fast food" chicken sandwich of all times. The kind and friendly words we hear every visit "my pleasure" doesn't hurt the service either! Happy chicken sandwhich hunting to all.......

    If a FAST FOOD place had this much time to make a chicken sandwich it’ll look/taste just as good. The reason why it’s praised so much is because given that it’s FAST FOOD it’s much fresher & taste WAY better than their competitors.
