Making the CAMPING PODS | TRC Van Conversion

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is the soloution we came up with to create a multi purpose load space at the back of the van. This gives us the option for two deep sofas, a full size double bed or once removed, a 1.4x1.2m cargo space.

    I love your channel, sod the negative arses!! I don't think people actually realise how much hard work is put into making and producing KZread videos let alone the hardwork put in doing all your projects. You can't please everyone so please yourself and do what YOU want it's your channel. There's more people who enjoy it than don't so try not to let the negative posts get you down. I'm here for your van build series and really enjoying your other projects in the house too. Thanks for putting out such frequent excellent content x

    Hi Tim, Two comments : 1) Your talk/doing balance has always been spot on, so no need to change how you do your videos. 2) Rather than cutting down the seat boxes, did you consider a false floor box (say 120mm tall) that could double as more storage and raised floor when in camping mode, and can be removed as one big long box, or maybe two half boxes when you need to transport big shiz for house renovation?

As for your standard of work, ideas and end results, it's fantastic! Have a small family and looking for a van that can pull double duty as a weekender/adventure van and also useful for projects or hauling larger loads. Having these removable pods so you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood/drywall/etc is brilliant and I'll plan to incorporate in some way. And the bunk beds, definitely the bunk beds. Hii, Tim love ur videos they are very inspirational to me to do some self project in my house. I am thinking of renovating bedrooms so redoing plastering and skimming, would u recommend going for lime plaster on a 20th century terrace house red bricks outer wall??. I was also wondering until what price should i pay the builder for skimming the walls, what price can be given to a medium sized bedrooms ? Thank you for ur help in advance and keep up the good work!

  • @TheRestorationCouple

    @TheRestorationCouple

    Lime plasteer is only beneficial if there is already no gypsum or non breathable paints in use, otherwise you may as well just skim. Every location is different however here the plasterer we use will charge £250 for a full day inc, labourer and done in one day. You may find cheaper but may take longer so ask around.

    the context of my comment is that I'm looking at different conversions in order to find a way for me to do something similar, on a VW T5. I appreciate very much the workmanship of The Restoration Couple project, but at times it seems overwelming dificult, intrincate, and sometimes it seems to me, things could be a lot simplified; instead of having an bed frame withlongitudinals, transversals parts, all inside a retangular frame, all glued, screwed in place ... I just think may be a single plywood, perhaphs reinforced if necessay, and also with holes for ventilation/weight saving, would do exactly the same job. I have built sailboats and bunks are mostly done that way. So my comment was on this context, and perhaphs, perhaphs ... it may help them to complete the project on a more efficient way.

    I bought a load of rough sawn slabs off a local woodworker who had no need for them. Most specialist wood merchants can get it, may be called tulip wood. No major benefit over pine really other than no knots and very good for painting. 👍
