    Vinyl floors are the bane of my existence. I try to fit them before fitting kitchens at work but sometimes I have to do it after and I cut a template which is really time consuming, but really wish I had the time to learn to cut them in situ like yourself. Really well done, looks great!

    Glad to see you back in the van. The look of that vinyl is fantastic...& easy cleaning for little feet & paws:) it may be heavy, but it has to weigh less than tongue & groove. Hope you can get it sorted enough to have a few grand family adventures this summer.

    First, I love the videos and your thoughtfulness and the time you take to attention to detail. It makes all the difference in the world. I ready to retire and considering living the van life for a couple of years. So Arizona will be my home base. So what are your thoughts about air conditioning. Also with the conversion have total up the VOC and other possible airborne commitments? You are Awesome!

    We're finally ahead of you ;-) Cutting the flooring around those seat brackets was a real pain for us. We've got them sitting on top of the ply floor rather than flush and while we were able to loosen three of them, the fourth bolts through above the fuel tank and dropping that wasn't something I wanted to do so it's a bit of a messy job cutting and forcing it under.

  • @TheRestorationCouple

    @TheRestorationCouple

    6 жыл бұрын

    Ahh, yes much easier to sit the brackets down onto flooring. But me being me had to do things the unconventional way! We don't plan of having the third seat in as much so was keen to keep flat floor.

  • @MichaelNolanUK

    I think we'll try to cut the underside of a mat to hold it in place on top of the spare seat brackets when we don't have it fitted.

    Really loving the van conversion playlist! The pace and detail is perfect and each video is spot on, very educational! Was wondering if you could do a video on an "eBay van buying guide"? You did touch on the subject on a previous video (and got yours for a good price), but was wondering if you can shed more light on what to look out for, for people who are a less confident on the subject. Many thanks! Dan.

    Not sure I am knowledgable enough when it comes to the ins and outs of van buying apart from what i have already mentioned. That said, I am still loving this model of van over anything else i have seen, the extra width, payload and lack of rust is a major plus point. Apart from that it's just the usual service history, bodywork, etc. This van had 150k on it but nearly all motorway miles, I would rather have that over a 75k ex builders or window fitting van any day.

    If you were really fussy, you could mask around the holes for the rails and spray enamel them with a similar colour to the floor, as well as brown silicon the edges, just to take your eyes away from them.

    Great video! So my only reservation, and I'm not sure you'll have experienced this yet, but does the vinyl grow when it gets hot? Our Sprinter OEM vinyl floor expands and ripples badly when the sun shines on it and I'm worried that when I come to install my own vinyl flooring that it might do the same thing. Maybe gluing it down would help?

    Plywood should be dimensionally stable enough to not cause issues but time will tell. Did think about taking it up the walls but most is within the back of cabinets so not really needed, plus nothing is square so would have been quite fiddly around the pillars and doors.

    The Restoration Couple right. I'm toying with the idea of gluing and screwing all the structural batons for the furniture/cabinets straight to the sub floor, and then laying the mat down. Alot More fiddly but they would be so much more secure and wouldn't be subject to as much stress when the van sways back and forth on those bumpy French country roads! Plan to lay the mat with not glue, place batons and then use them as a template for cutting out. Then glue floor down
