I review motorcycle apparel and armor, and I've reviewed several of the top-end versions of the d3O armor on my site. I've had several military paratroopers emailing me to tell me how they've been wearing d3O armor in undergarments after reading my d3O reviews since the pads have been very useful to cushion their landings. That's how wild the potential for applications and use is with d3O's armor.

Isn't it made from the same material from the old toys called "stretch man" or something? also colored orange.
My understanding of kinetic transfer is that a hard object won't protect you nearly as much as an object that shatters does, due to the dispersal of energy. So how does this material hardening in response to impact make it safer? Is it because the energy results in the material's structure locking up, thus gaining both durability and consuming energy?
@crisostomoibarra1760
5 ай бұрын
It spreads the impact throughout the material. A normal hard material does take a lot of impact but doesn't spread it.
@VanguardJester

It's not permanently hard. The impact is taken and spread to harden the "fluid". On a permanently hard material the impact is taken but not spread.

@GatlinsFuckinCornfield
Жыл бұрын
@@adhd_with_pennies4867 that's oobleck and is an entirely different thing, they work the same because they're non Newtonian materials meaning they don't obey the normal laws of physics so they are liquid at a normal state but when you add a shock or heat it hardens.
@Ajokeiguess
Жыл бұрын
@@GatlinsFuckinCornfield oobleck just works because whenever something hits it quickly the corn starch gets compressed and turns into a solid, then it slowly flows back out, d30 uses something similar, if not the same, so yeah, it is kind of oobleck.
