Great video! I just ordered D3O level 2 armor to replace what is currently in my alpinestars textile jacket which feels much too thin for my liking.

I have replaced the armour in my BELSTAFF TEMPLE JACKET with D30 GHOST ARMOUR and the difference is amazing, so much more comfortable, and hardly noticeable when wearing the jacket. GET SOME!!

Thank you. I am rétro fitting mine into a sleeveless jacket. I am using it for horse riding. I found the pro horse equipment back protectors and 360 degree protectors, even the expensive ones, heavy and uncomfortable. I have not yet found anyone in Europe who puts this ghost D30 armour in horse riding jackets. Shame.

Ok so it feels better..... but does it protect just as well or better? Isn't that why we wear armor, for it's protectibility? So shouldn't that be the biggest part of any video about newer, more flexible armor? It can do all these things and still protect just as well or better than the old ridgid ones?

Well, don't you also want to have a little comfort when you're just touring. They're also releasing this stuff as level 2 soon, so that surely has my interest. Some people don't mind trading a little bit of safety for comfort. I mean, the safest thing would be to just not ride.

It's better due to the physics property if the orange material. It hardens like the older style plastics on impact. Then softens back again right after. So it offers the same protection as the big bulky stuff, just in a low profile design.

Jack: Nice review but just as a minor correction, when you fit the Ghost Armour (about 3 minutes in) the Black Fabric Side should be on the outside and the Orange Ribbed Side should be by the body, in other word, the other way round to way you have inserted them. This helps to aid comfort and breathability - dont think it makes much difference to impact protection.

True indeed. Also with the flat side to the outside, the pads are then not as visually noticeable, particularly for the knee pads. Very "ghost"-like.

They need to make a level 2 ghost armour. There is a D30 chest and back armour and airbag vest aswell so your 95% protected from everything.

Hi. Mine doesn’t have a size on it . I got it as part of a full kit. I have had a look at another d30 back protector and that doesn’t show a size either. Think they used to be a standard size when I got mine. If you check with urban rider they will advise. 👍

I've had similar ones like the Black flexiforms but they ripped at the elbow every 2-3 years from bending the arm. Currently i have yellow seguras which seem to be alot flexier when warmed up, but no idea how long they will last. Any idea how long the d30 ones hold up?

can vouch for the ghost d30 armour. I bought Richa riding jeans and they came with Ghost knee protectors. i felt like my RST jackets protectors where so big and not very form fitting so i swapped the elbows to ghost d30. now all my amour that is integrated into my gear is d30 ghost

I just got a new Klim jacket and the D3O armor is way too stiff. I've ordered newer Ghost D3O armor for the shoulders and elbows. the Ghost D3O back protector isn't available stateside at the moment. the back protector you showed is not the Ghost back protector, which looks like the elbow/knee and shoulder/hip ghost armor.

Hi there, Is the ghost just as protective as the original D30? and if so why don’t they make a back protector in the ghost format. I sent these questions to them via Twitter. No reply.

That's because ghost armor is useless. I have some and they do nothing for impact. It's flat and hard. Feel everything through it.

@@theultimateninja If that were the case, why would Fox, Scott, Furygan, Rukka, Triumph, Richa, Held, BKS and Belstaff (amongst others) use it in their motorcycle apparel, that wouldn't make sense? I casn't see all these companies using a product that doesn't perform to the claimed standards. Do you perhaps mean that the company's customer care department is useless?

Others have explained this to you but you insist everyone is wrong and have “drank the marketing KoolAid”. I won’t repeat what they have said but you really ought to take another look. D3O is CE certified so there is a level of testing to these that adhere to European/UK standards. Had the armor failed the tests it legally would not have been allowed to be sold as motorcycle armor. And clearly they adhere to CE ratings as they are still around and in many pieces of safe/high quality gear. Knowing the standards D3O would have to meet to be CE rated, it’s quite obvious the tech is not exactly smoke and mirrors. Truth is, it’s great armor for all kinds of riders. I’m lucky to have never had to rely on my D3O, but know of others that did and it saved them from far worse injuries. If you are still really concerned about the armor, you’re better off checking the actual tests, what they test for, and their results, rather than make a video that just embarrasses yourself.
