Making fried chicken giblets (gizzards) - Can this be a Durban Indian Tapas?

Fried chicken giblets can be eaten as a meal or like it was back in the day, a spicy snack to accompany a few drinks in the afternoon. Perfect with some fresh, soft white bread!
Ingredients
700g chicken giblets
Washed, cut and soaked in water with 2 tbs vinegar
For the fry
2 medium onions, sliced - 1 for braising and 1 for garnish
1/4 cup oil
3 dried chillies
a few sprigs of fresh thyme
10-12 curry leaves
2 green chillies
2 pieces of cinnamon stick
1 tsp crushed ginger garlic
1 tsp rough salt
grind of fresh black pepper
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp worcestshire sauce
To garnish
1 tsp chicken spice
spring onion and dhania
Serve straight from the pan with some fresh bread and if you have it, some extra chillie oil for those who enjoy that extra bit of spice!

I love the simplicity and humbleness of this lady. I like her recipes too. I do have to make a correction. Aunty Gaithree is making a gizzard dish not giblets. Giblets is a combination of the liver, heart , neck and gizzards..thank you

Wow, that's so well done, I normally do mines with plenty onions chillies and salt and pepper, but I want to try your style, this is rich with vitamins... Iron, and Mrs Devi, the dish is shown to us so quickly, ask the taster to let us see it atleast one second, it looks so love but I press pause to see your texture of the dish, well done Mrs Devi, it's so simple but tasty

We usually use Robertsons chicken spice but tried Spice Emporium branded chicken spice we got at United Meat market.

Hi there... Just wanted to know where do you buy your pea dhall from in jhb? Also when you boil it does it become like powder instead of remaining whole? It is a battle currently when we buy pea dhal it doesn't go like powder then we have to liquidise to get the smooth dhal curry effect we grew up with? Thank you... Charmain Pillay

We get it either from Naghias or Shayonas in fordsburg. We also struggle as well with it not boiling. I think it may have something to do with the water so before changing your dhal, try getting a 5lt bottled water to boil with. Also when shopping for your dhal you must look at the bag. If the dhal is shiny it tends to be harder to boil. If it’s dusty it boils easier. Not very scientific but just what I noticed in my time here…

@@anyn7339 ok that’s great. I think there are other versions of rice pudding that may include Saigo and are stiffer if I can call it that, I was thinking of that version.
