14:13 Love when you locked in that bass line haha
Really appreciate what you shared about experimenting with house rhythms. Sometimes I get tripped up and overthink hat patterns or end up adding way too much off the jump and it ruins the groove. Simplicity is always key with little accents and changes in velocity to keep things spicy and interesting 😊
@RickyTinez
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s surprising how much velocity can actually add to a drum pattern. I always make that exact same mistake that you do and just create the craziest rhythm which then doesn’t allow me to fit anything else within the groove and I get discouraged. And it’s usually until I just make another track with just a kick and that’s it and that helps me get through

@@RickyTinez It's one of the reasons I love probability on sequencers, I can write a really busy line and then turn down the probability on various beats until you are left with only the essential hits for a groove but there are little extra sprinkles now and again to spice things up. It's a fine line.
Chopping on the transients, turning off warp and using the tail to fill up the gaps was a great tip! Thank you.
8 tracks… 5 drum, 1 sample, 1 bass, and 1 synth. That’s all you need to make a song! Love this.
Love the vibes and listening to Ricky’s creative process in these videos, sooo chill
Man I love your videos so much. Everything from the music, to the framing, to the colour correcting. Just so visually appealing and musically informative. Stay awesome dude :)

Ricky, your videos are top notch, like masterclass quality. Keep the great stuff coming! Also not sure if you’ve done a video on this already, but if not then could you make one about how to run ableton through guitar pedals like you’ve done with the blooper in this video? And maybe even how you connect all your devices together like the peak with the push and routing into ableton?

Ricky Tinez congrats on the Summertime//Dog Whistle… if you shift the filter balance and make the Lead into a Bass you’ll get it sound more like a ‘Force-Field’ 😉

Awesome "in the pocket" bass on that. :) Hey, I was thinking about your setup, and did you thought about using "midi-synth peak"? It allows you to control Peak with a vst. It works pretty well. I even did a Ableton rack for it, so it makes automation a breeze, with the real parameters name. Anyway, still liking your desk? ( I have the same Platform, but I am having quite hard time to find out the optimal keyboard / mouse place! ) ;-)
man, I am ready to dance at already at 2:11
The pedal effects and chopping remind me of the cool things the Organelle gets away with. You should borrow one.

Hey Ricky, love the videos man. I just got a pair of the tma-2 wireless because of your video. Any tips on getting the audio louder without it distorting the signal sent? I thought I might have figured it out by adding a limiter but wanted to see if you had a better solution.
@RickyTinez
2 жыл бұрын
I usually don’t mess with the volume on the headphones (The three buttons on the side) and I only rely on my audio interface headphone volume. Does your intervase have some weird DSP routing where it might be quiet? I find that might get pretty loud without distorting. Now that I think about it, I don’t think they have ever distorted haha
@trespacerooh
2 жыл бұрын
@@RickyTinez I’m using universal audio interfaces. In the manual it said something about it distorting if the audio reaches a certain threshold so I made sure to start using a limiter lol. Maybe I just like my music a little louder than usual. I am using the drivers that came with the headphones though

I love your remark on working against one’s brain from time to time. It made instantly sense to me … but I have to figure out what sense - and which brain. :-D As for weird MIDI stuff going on, I myself am facing what seem to be USB issues with my 2020 MBP. I cannot point my finger at it yet, but most USB related hiccups were introduced to my setup with the update to Big Sur. It has almost brought me to the pint of giving up on doing music on Mac with DAW (Cubase in my case) as it has gone from annoying to being a pain. Yet I am still trying to figure out what might be my problem here - and if I manage to do so, I am going to share what solved the issue for me. Until next time, thanks for that video, Ricky!

I’m just using the external “effect plug-in” that comes with live. It’s super good! That routes audio within a track to a designated output and back into live through a design nated input!

@@RickyTinez Thanks!
I see good music and music that just sucks to me, and it does not matter. I own some pedals yet frankly, most stuff I hear I can duplicate or have more options by running signals through my rack samplers. Most DAWs can make great tracks, and most of them have similar features, so there's no logical reason to spend a lot of money, nor update them often, unless the updates are free. I have older copies of Sonic Foundry and Acid, and I installed Reaper, VCV, and some other open source software. One thing I just bought that's worth the money is my PolyEnd Tracker.I love hybrid studios with samplers and some pedals because there's almost infinite options..
