I've said this elsewhere, I am really impressed that Ableton chose a sustainable path for Push 3 in a consumerist world where we are expected to throw away perfectly good technology all in the name of repeating revenue. What a win for everyone.
So this is basically the best of Roli Blocks, Ableton & an MPC. NICE! Very interested in seeing what native instruments is going to do this year with their hardware as well.
My Push 2 died like 2 years ago, and I've been in sorrow ever since. Finally managed to put together money for a new one around christmas, but used the money on presents for my family instead. I also had a feeling that since Push 2 was out of stock everywhere in Norway (and other places), something new were on the horizon. I AM SOOOOOOOO HYPED!! LET'S GOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It's cool, I have a Push 2 and I don't really feel like it's obsolete here at all. But there are a few features that I would definitely enjoy having, and the interface functionality is a major wishlist item, if I were still schlepping Push to live gigs that would save me a TON of time.

I can't believe they made it upgradable! So forward thinking and enviro when most tech companies are leaning into planned obsolesence
As always Andrew, another superb upload. This though.. this is an absolute game changer, being able to replace processor, battery and hard drive as technology improves... there's nothing else like it, and give it a truly bright future !!!
Best Push 3 presentation of the 10+ i've seen so far. Congrats !
Your production quality both in terms of music and film is very crisp. Also, I'm a large fan of your 4 producers series and you've genuinely inspired me to improve my music so thanks for that!
Proper breakdown! As always the production quality here is next level. I think it has to be said that the upgrade kit feature is a game changer. This is huge.. and will possibly make this device future proof for a long time to come. Im sure that they will add some sort of arrangement view eventually and more bells and whistles over the next year. This is a very strong entry into the standalone market.
The MPE definitely seems like an awesome upgrade, but it does make me wonder how the new pads feel since they had to design around MPE functionality.
Nicely done, amazing review and performances in just 11 min! Bravo 💥
You're a phenomenal artist. Across all mediums. I very much appreciate the editting when explaining features, ie a clip rolls showing you doing x or y, as you're narrating. Curt, and trim. Love it. As far as the device goes. MPE seems to be on the rise(!). Thanks for your time Stay like that man. Luv from the pnw
Loved the sounds you made at the end with the pulsar end the thing you looped and quantized
Wow! Nice job Andrew. Thanks. Push 3 seems to be most everything we'd hoped for and maybe more!

Damn, this is just insane. I was planning on getting a Launchpad Pro to use as a standalone sequencer for my modular stuff, and owning a Push II I love the interface, but not the setup - this is incredible. I can’t afford one at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye out.
Kind of video I REALLY like. I good overview without and lot of DEEP DIVES. That comes later as you get more experience with the device. This was an excellent introduction for someone brand new to the PUSH eco-system. Wish more YTers would do these, initially, instead of showing 3 different ways to do the same thing and adding midi gear etc. One step at a time! Much obliged.
I've never seens an eggplant played with such feel before. beautiful stuff that really spoke to my soul
Being able to use Note and Session mode at the same time - above all other features - is for me the biggest and best. It’s the reason I am upgrading to the tethered version.

Can we use midi controllers with the standalone version? Adding a keyboard or a launchpad pro for even more hands on control? Also does it use the same (bad) coating of the older Push's? It is great to see repairability and upgrability to have such a focus, it is really nice!
Great for performers, not so much for producers and people who primarily use arranging to create their tracks… MPE looks great, as well as the jog wheel. Hopefully the jog wheel is on its own daughter board, instead of soldered directly to the main board… so it can easily be replaced, as we all know, rotary encoders will need replacing…. I wish they would add a new mode for the pitch bend strip and allow it to act as the cross fader as well…
@WilliamCondonMoriarty
Жыл бұрын
Interestingly most people perform with arrangement because you can have backing tracks running while you add as many different things as you want and can have cues happen exactly when you want without having to press a button or set up follow actions. So this is really an idea generator/production tool
nice overview, thanks
I just got an apc key 25 the other day so I'm using ableton for the first time, crazy timing to see this

Thanks so much for this! Question: Can you assign tempo per scene on the Push 3? You can't on the Akai Force which has made it difficult on live gigs. I'd dump my Force in a second if Push 3 can do this.
I’ve always wanted one of these
GR8 overview Andrew... you should be able-to have an audio record buffer to go with the midi listening ,that you could set the recording time to say up to 40 mins like BESKPOKE DAW or 404 mk2......would have liked to have seen more Eurorack stuff setup being controlled by the Push 3. .....ps shaker game 100
Great review bro I want one!
great video, one question does it have the same coating as per Push 2 ? it wasn't great quality and became sticky over time
on session view can you have a track loaded with an instrument/device/synth and have the clips below being the same instrument/device/synth but with different parameters? so it makes a different sound, and sequence the midi notes with the oxi one
Looks awesome
Sheeesh when you demo the MPE in that intro scene 🤯

Honestly if you already have Ableton and you're just looking for a controller, you probably don't need to drop $2000 on the newest thing. Ableton itself has more features than most people will ever use, and it sounds like even the Push 3 is still a few steps away from being fully standalone considering it lacks access to the arranger mode. I grabbed a mint Push 1 for $300 and it has everything I need.

Sweet Jesus, this mk3 is a game changer! I’m still on a Push 1 because I didn’t feel the need to upgrade for my purposes but this…this Akai device is dope.
Dope will definitely be investing
Can you launch clips to record midi into and have note mode on same screen without having to switch? I like that about force using it's touch screen...you can hit the clip in touch screen snd immediately play notes into the clip.
fantastically demoed. good shit bro
I hope this comment doesn’t come off topic too much, but as an FL Studio user (I have Ableton as well) at least at this stage… my question is, would we be able to export tracks/stems to FL? Again, I’m not trying to start a DAW war or throwing shade at all… the device looks amazing and I’m really new so it’s an honest question. Love the content!
Sorry if this is just re-hashing what you said but I want to better understand the 8 input ADAT idea... so it would basically be some kind of 8 input interface connected via ADAT to the push and then you could perform all the instruments via that and manipulate/loop/make clips on push 3? Were you doing that for the bass, hardware synth and other parts in the video? Thank you for the run-through, it's really inspiring.
Animoog vibes with the pads!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just logged into my youtube and i see Andrew and Rachel K collier both posting video on Ableton Push 3. You guys were like almost ready with the camera to shoot this video lol :D .. btw i loved the explanation and Ableton surely came up with the powerful machine this time.. talkin of machine , Maschine+ got some epic competition too :D
I knew you were gonna be putting one of these out first. Ableton did the dam thang with this. Roland and Akai among others are all going to be playing catch up now. Upgradable components? What?!!!
That Jam Interlude was phat!
I literally got ride of my Akai MPC because of the lack of arrangement view... The MPE is somewhat tempting and the UI improvements are nice. But, overall I don't think, for me, that this is really a big enough improvement to tempt me from the Push 2.
so sick!
This does actually look fire
how do you do program changes to external gear? Is it possible like OT that you can trigger a pattern and it switches to the chosen preset on your desktop synth?
Thanks Andrew for the intro. It is double the price where I am for the standalone and will have to chew on that. I'm assuming I will still need to continue using my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface to connect to my speakers with the Push 3?
So cool!
