Making a Workbench With Minimal Tools on a Budget

Total cost was around 35 dollars for the wood supplies, maybe 33, all the other tools I had, but this bench is the beginning of getting my work space in working order and I love it!
Making the workbench for the garage is bittersweet. I have it and some upgrades, but in three short days I'll be in surgery and recovery from it for 2 weeks to 2 months before I'm standing up like it's going out of style.
When I can though, I'll be in the shop as much as I like. I also have a few recorded videos that haven't been edited yet : )
And while this might be the last video for a month or two, I have some fun tools, and neat stuff to share for my little one car garage shop that I'm very excited for.

The name of this joint is "half-lap" When chiseling, try to have the workpiece as anchored as possible so all your hammer energy goes into cutting and not moving the piece. From your description that top may be MDO - Medium Density Overlay. It is MDF core with plywood veneers on the outside.
