Making a Rolling Road Base to Test the RC V8 Car!
Ғылым және технология
I must make the gearbox work, the car has the power to use the 3rd gear and it continues to accelarate.
The engine can be easily fixed. I just need a piston/rod and we're back!

That full throttle on first gear was amazing. Can't wait the next video
All your videos are inspiring and relaxing, keep up the great work!! P.s. Dont forget about the supercharger. Even if it doesn't make significant boost it's still cool to hear an RC V8 whine!!

No doubt! I think the thing worked, he just didn't richen the mixture enough so it bogged.
Oil pan failures (when the oil pan fails to hold the contents of the engine) get you every time. ✌🎅👍
🎄Merry Christmas🎄Johnny, Thanks for another year of awesome content! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2024!
The good old fashion throwing a rod trick huh? Never gets old.
What a bummer, that was a cool little v8. Would definatly love to see a scale dyno to test with, im sure you could figure out the numbers for calculating the results :)
This is an awesome Christmas gift to see this thing in action! I love tiny V8 engines put to actual proper work!
My man needs a long block build with forged internals and billet parts at this point 🤣🤣
Impressive machinist! Magnificent build.
Can’t wait to see it up and running again!! It’s such an awesome build. That guy on here said “it’s just a kit, anybody can build it” talking about the engine kit that you START with… is he blind about ALL the custom components that you design and make? Or the car that the engine goes in? He is obviously jealous of your engineering skills and your ability to build something so freaking awesome!! I’ll bet that dude has trouble building a Tamiya car😳… lol
so cool to hear and see a RC car making actual gear changes.
finally we see those wheels moving!
It's a bummer you didn't have footage of the rod coming apart.....exelent build my friend
You are a genius! Congratulations!
It's insane how skilled you are on crafting such small pieces with this level of precision while making everything work together. I'm looking at the gearbox and wondering if heat can be a thing in the long term and if it's possible to add something to cool it down. Another thing that came to my mind is to try and balance the wheels (maybe craft some yourself with aluminum? Or just add some weight where neede to balance it off) in order to get less vibration, more grip and less mechanical stress on chassis, suspensions and probably the differential too. I know nothing about rc cars and I'm not a mechanic either so I'm just trying to guess possible issues and most likely saying things you already noticed yourself or decided they are no big deals
Amazing work
bro your vids are so relaxing the asmr of the machines is so good
That shot where you had the entire roller on the lathe and removed the top layer. So. Good. Also, ouch. RIP connecting rod hahaha
Awe, man! She threw a rod. This is bad news for you, and great news for me. Now I get to see you make replacements. I'm glad to see your transmission is coming along too. If I had to guess why second gear is not engaging, I would say it's maybe the hard edges where the dogs mesh. Or maybe too much friction.
Been watching yoh make this car for what. 2 years now? I love it man. Awesome work
Love this amazing engineering keep it up
Precision is artwork
Very nice attempt J. 👍
I dont know what’s more cool. This whole ass rig. Or the fact that it threw a rod through the pan like a real V8
It’s time you machine your own engine

The fact your posting on chrstmass day is dedacation. The best channel ever :)
Never thought I'd see a tiny v8 throw a row.
My favorite Christmas present, thanks.
RIP to that connecting rod, you did well soldier 🫡
Awesome video 🎉 congrats
Omg, sound look like a really v8 ❤
The day JohnnyQ90 speaks will be the day he wins the internets.
Awesome work keep it up man always looking forward to new mods and builds 🤟
Been waiting for the next one
Happy holidays my friend, been here waiting to see if you were going to work on this car before the end of the year. Can't wait to see all of your hard work pay off and see you enjoying this beautiful car. Keep up the awesome work you're doing.
The clutch seems to be holding up great 👍🏾
That's sick 🤘
It sounds so so good bro keep it up you are doing Amazing work
Amazing, it really sounds like a V8 too. i love V8s :D
Merry Christmas to you and the youtube fam!
Always fantastic builds, regarding the gearbox, a well timed strobe light may help here :)
Merry Christmas everyone, excellent video as always, this year there will be more good projects.....🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Nice work johny
Also bloody brilliant work my friend I genuinely appreciate the work you put in.. your machining is solid man solid as a 🪨
Trial and error, sir brilliant work.
Merry Christmas Johnny 🎉 Nice vid 👌🏻
Nice and relaxing 😎
I'll be honest...I mainly watch the videos to hear that satisfying "click" whenever you torque the fasteners!
More rotating mass, will need xtra support. Love these vids💪👍
Great video
Oh damn, rest in power V8. May your rebirth be that of the pheonix and astound us all with your glorious power.
I like the things you build awesome skills Sir

Cool vid, with sad ending, in germany we call it "einen kapitalen Motorschaden"
THE ENGINE UNDER LOAD AND THROTTLE HAS THE SAME SOUND CHARACTERISTICS AS A REAL V8 IT ALSO FAILED LIKE ONE AMAZING VID AS ALWAYS! ❤
We’ll never see this thing finished lol
Keep going we will be supporting🎉🎉
Machine new parts... You have the talent.
I would like to see this car on the road shifting gears as soon as possible. PLEASE! lol. Happy Holidays to the Mini Motor GOAT!
thats a sign that is time to got turbo or supercharged hahah, awesome content, I really like watching your videos

Awesome video.
0:21 rather than brass, you have two other options (that go two different ways, depending on what you want) that are softer than brass, but stronger than plastic. Tin and aluminium. Tin's going to be heavier and aluminium lighter. I'm not sure what you want of that part, but brass may be too strong and break other bits. Just a thought thrown out there. Merry Holidays! Next year you're going to hit 2 million subscribers for sure! :)

Kinda yes but I doubt that AL will have the hardness too resist the inpact of the dog clutch without Plastic deformation but for sure if he isn't gonna asing a point of fallure the system will do it for him 😅 I recommend a shock absorbing ruber disk in the drivetrain

Nah I'd suggest oil infused bronze, it's specifically made for sleeve bearings and the like so they self lubricate.
Top work on tiny parts...
Good lord my ears never heard such harmonious mini v8 iml.
"Everything will be fixed" *Can You Feel My Heart starts playing*
Real RC hobbyist right here, making your own parts like we did back in the good old days, not this ready-to-crash all-plastic stuff they’ve got out today. We had RC planes for decades with very few problems, but when RTF drones that use a phone as a controller came out, we got all these new regulations. I’m all for getting more younger folks into the hobbies but enough of them don’t pay their dues first and just get into trouble with stuff.
Perfect project, great video, I love you. Merry Christmas to everyone. Project for the future small dyno for performance measurement.😂
Let's be real here man this is fkn awesome one of the coolest vids I've watched in a long time the talent it takes to do some of this work is far beyond my process of thinking lol 😆 so cool brotha thanks for the vid
I love rc cars
I use ATF oil on my nitro engines when not using them a long time, works quite well. Never had any bearing issues.
Well that was a bit of Christmas cheer for me a new video. Great work as always, I love watching how you put all this together, it is a work of art. Good luck for 2024, I'll be waiting 👍❤️
i always am just waiting for JQ90s next video. in the world today surly biggest gripe has got to be the time between vids. but to my personal opinion the just next level build ideas, and then the powerplant choices with the overall functionality and melodic cohesion. is second to none. JQ focuses on perfect harmony must be achieved because nothing else is acceptable. oh i for got to mention that he's gotta be a self taught, at least in the years ive watched JQ i dont remember seening any custom parts ever tossed to machine another. first shot and never wastes material. JQ when machining could more likely run circles around most machinist instructors here on the tube.
that ending break my hearth 😢
Bro you do the most beautiful and amazing job on your machine work and that’s coming from a gun smith who machines guns on the lathe and I thought my stuff was small and tedious - not even a match to what you do
What a cute little 350 😂
Honestly it’s a very cool car. With the size of it, 1/4 would be a child power car and 1/3 would be a go kart size! Keep it up, I’ve been watching you for years and hopefully more years to come.
Theres another guy on here he trying to stuff same motor into a 1/10th infraction stunt truck Look at this rig its on another level. The build quality 👌🏼 is amazing, heck of a job sir!!!!
You should put knurling on the rollers for better wheel grip
Nice one. I made an test stand for my inline 5 cylinder engine. I had some problems with the crank breaking apart but i made a new one out of a solid chunk of steel. I guess setbacks are part of the game right?
Nice V8

Jhonny, Glow Plugs (spark plugs) are heat graded meaning if you use a hotter plug like the ones you replaced, will advance ignition timing, cooler plug will have opposite effect. your Rod failiure could be because you have inadvertantly advanced the ignition timing!
@Wazaarbazaar
5 ай бұрын
Its not a spark plug... the name says it?
@Ni9kye
5 ай бұрын
yes your correct, its a glow plug, johnny reffered to it as a spark plug in his video. In any case Not all glow plugs are the same, they are heat graded also there is a diffrance between 2 stroke and 4 stroke glow plugs. it gets a little complicated, but you can measure a noticable diffrance in performance. Peramiters such as compression, nitro content 2 and 4 stroke and desired rpm all come into play. a glow plug manufacture called Model Techniques made an extensive data sheet, listing cases for a full range of their plugs. Back in the Day i had a hot rodded Spitfire using up to 40% nitro methane. Selecting the correct plug was essential... in any case i more than doubled the power( according to the propeller it could swing) Fun times =) @@Wazaarbazaar
@Ni9kye

Somthing else to consider maybe to add a varible resistor in the glow plug circut, inorder to adjust the voltage going to the glow plugs, this would in theory allow you to dial in when the mixture ignites, like a crude method of advancing/retarding when the mixture ignites inside the combustion chamber, just a thought.
@russcole5685

@@Ni9kyethe power to the plugs is only on during start up, once running they stay lite but the fuel burning
@Ni9kye
5 ай бұрын
yes i wasnt 100% sure, i do know some glow motors used to run a constant current to the plugs to prevent them from going out. in which cast it would be possible to run a very cold plug, and utlise a constant current and use a resistor to ignite the fuel at the desired timing! @@russcole5685
Uh oh, Rodney came a knocking. I've only ever seen that on full size engines, but I guess when you're experimenting and pushing the limits, even the scale engines can do the same thing.
