God bless dude, I love the content, started throwing pottery this month, 10 bowls in, love it and need to find more time to do it. Thanks for the inspiration.
The part where he was setting the temp and time, or what have you, on the kiln took so long it sounded like he was typing his pieces a love letter. Dear Dishes, I hope that you're all feeling secure and well tended. I know that we won't see each other for a couple of days, but know that I'll be thinking of you and hoping that everything goes to plan for you. All of my hopes are pinned on your safe return, so be well. All my Love: Jon

I loved the plate but the quiet peace in this video made it a joy to watch, thank you for sharing your gift.

i’m taking a throwing class in college right now and i love it. you make it look so easy. i’m struggling but it’s a lot of fun! one day i hope to be as good as you haha
Oh this is so cool :) love the concept and love that you are using the plate at the end - such a feel-good moment!
Wow! Such a well made video, the shape is amazing and the reaction you got with the glaze is amazing!
Love your videos! I’m in my third ceramics class but watching your videos has helped spark my passion for pottery! Thank u for the cool and helpful vids!

Love these process videos! Really inspiring, now I want to try it! Do more of them, please!
Amazing art work. Loved the colors you used
Wow ...love the glaze in the plate and the cups.
Love that plate! Gorgeous work.
Thank you for this. I like the use of mud-sponges. The end product is beautiful..
Absolutely mesmerizing
U r really talented and the process was soooo satisfying 🤩
Love your videos! Loved watching this one! Loved the wings! Loved the child! Thank you!
That is a beautiful plate. You always make it look so easy.
I took 9 quarters in collage of throwing. I used a manual kick wheel. I could never get the control I wanted with the electric wheel...my body has muscle memory of this and is mimicking each step.

Chan Valentine I bought a kickwheel two summers ago to work with clay in my garage. Still have it and bought a kiln. Now next year I’ll be attending the best ceramics university in the US. Kickwheels are truly a beautiful thing.

That plate is gorgeous !!
As some in ceramics 1 at school & can barley center properly, I am beyond jealous of how easy you made this seem
Fantastic piece! ❤
Loved it 🌼
This is amazing.
it turned out really beautiful
Amazing artwork ❤️
Can you share the glaze combo you used for this plate?
thank you as always
I love your glazes! I have just started classes and am loving throwing pottery. I am still learning centering, but have a lot of practice to go. I am fascinated by your glazing techniques! Thank you for your videos! What colors did you use?
Love it 😍
Happiness needs pottery in it! Great video!
Wow wow wow i’m impressed 🤩
The perfect Video after a noisy day at Work!
Really like the glaze combination. It's a bit like the robin egg blue and copper that I use.
Woooow beautiful...love your work
So lovely.
At 7:36 when you close the door, you have very short hair and when you open it, you have shoulder length hair. How long did you keep the ceramics in klin?

too beautiful your work and your family too
How did the magic happen? How that green color came on the plate? Was that a coating of a cement? I have zero knowledge about the process of ceramics, yet I love to watch such videos.

Okay, so the glaze production process is complicated, but the last step of pottery production is to cover the clay (already fired once to at least 800 C, so that it is no longer water soluble) in a solution of various chemicals and minerals. Before they are fired, they will often be an unappealing color, but once they are fired in a kiln to anywhere from 1000 to 2300 C, the glaze melts and reacts with the air and the other chemicals in it to turn into a colored glass coating on the outside of the ceramic, which is called a glaze. There are lots of ways to develop different color pallets, but since Jon was firing in an electric kiln, I would guess that the glaze was colored with either cobalt or copper.
I haven’t thrown in a very long time, but i seem to remember a technique to throwing plates where you basically just throw a wide bowl and then flatten the walls of it. That way there’s less of a massive foot to trim. Maybe I’m making just making that up or something tho I don’t really remember
turned out beautiful! How did the colours become like that? Do they all turn out different and the colours are random based on heat levels?
Ein Meisterwerk! 👍👍👍
How cute. The plate and the guy. 😁
Couple questions first what tools do you use , whats the round white disc thing you use when shopping . Im totally new to pottery and obsessed with watching others creat such beautiful pieces of art and trying to learn everything i can . Thank you
you should do a narrated version, with the entire process
So relaxing til you made me hungry 😅 Beautiful plate ❤

I love that plate. But I wanted to jump through the screen and get me some wings. Yum!! The top glaze looked like a crystal glaze.

How did you go about firing so many (?) plates. did you put one plate on one shelf each or are you blessed with one of those enormous, oval-shaped, monster kilns?

@@dixonjohnson1708 Sorry for the thumbs down thing, I was trying to reply. Back 8 months ago I was working via a community studio that then closed due Covid. I would make a few plates at a time. Now I have my own kiln and figure I maybe could fire 2 at most at time. Plus the plates I was making were using a high fire stoneware, so it will depend on when the Studio is opened again.

I sorta want to learn how to make nice plates. Those look beautiful. I always see things like that for sale but, they’re so expensive! I mean yes, it is very time consuming though.
Hi could you tell me how you manage the dust because I have great difficulty, yours looks emaculate
I'm a huge JTP fan. I really like your (hilarious) monologue and equally like your silent demos. As do many potters, I am getting lots of requests for dinner sets including plates. So far I haven't seen any demos or instructions on how to fire a significant number of plates. If the plates have any diameter at all, it's going to take up most of, if not the entire, shelf. I don't have 6 full shelves for a firing of only 6 plates. I've seen/heard of "plate sitters" but, while those aren't cheap, it's the only solution that I've dug up, and even then, no video demos on best use. If you care to address, would love to hear your take...

Gorgeous
What kind of clay are you using?
How much clay do you start with?
How do you cone up and center so fast??
@jonthepotter: Hi! New to your channel and a subscriber. Could you tell me please what is the pottery wheel model you are using?
I want to buy some like this! But where?
Pure magic))))
I notice that you stand while throwing vs sitting. Is there an advantage to standing or just more comfortable for you?
5:30 ahhh the ASMR....
Parabéns 👏👏😍👍👊 Que trabalho Lindo!
I'm starving!!!!
Nice plate. Thx see you soon
I do envy masters of the wheel. Something about throwing has never felt natural to me.
I used to think they paint it by hand, but instead, he dipped it in something, and then voila! What was in that liquid?
