Everything gets a little harder as you age but hard work is what keeps me going. I get stiff when I stop. Still tilling my garden planting and am having tho hand water here in the mountains of NC too. Hope we start getting rain again soon. I’m 73 and love watching my garden grow. Thanks for sharing the garden tips and letting us see your garden. Really looking good. 😊

“It calls out to your soul”- that is so true Tipper. Thank you for sharing with us and thank you for encouraging others to grow something. It truly does make you stop and think about what a glorious and amazing world we are all lucky enough to live in.

I jus love it when you reach down and take a bloom in your fingers and tell us about it, and they hold their pretty little faces up to look at us. Then they go back to whatever they were doing in the garden. They remind me of our little orange cat Dooley's sweet face looking up at us, and then back to his busy day.

Gardening is an exercise of your internal faith, hope, love, and patience! If you're a gardener, even just one pot on your porch, you are an optimist--don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I like that.

I have used plain flour to dust my cabbage so the worms don't invade them. My dad told me this trick so I didn't use any pesticide on them. I've even used it on flowers. Your garden looks so nice. I'm anxious to hear how the blueberry Tommy toes are 🙏 & hugs

You are going to think I’m goofy in the head, but as you are taking us through your garden, I can actually smell your plants. We aren’t able to grow plants anymore, but I am enjoying “smelling” your plants and herbs!

I live in Florida, but my family are all near your neck of the woods and watching your videos helps to make the distance feel not so far away. That was an amazing tour. You all have really made a big garden, adding everything together. That does inspire me! I sure wished I planted a garden before I became disable. I never even thought about it. I worked so much that there wasn't time for that. Knowing that it's impossible to go back and do different, I'm constantly telling my son, daughter and grandchildren to learn to grow their own food. This year they finally have given it a shot. They are doing great considering they have never done it before. I'm proud of them. They get so excited and send me pics. of how big the vegetables are getting. Thanks, Tipper, for inspiring us to try. It's working for my family.

Planting a garden is hope for the future. You are right it is good for the soul. Lovely garden.

I grow flowers in containers and you are 💯 right about what you said!! I had no idea i could keep flowers alive but i can and the amount of joy my little containers bring has surprised me so much. I encourage anyone reading this who hasn't tried it, to give it a try. If i can do it... literally, anybody can. 😆

Tipper I guess I walk out to my garden at least ten times a day lol. I am just so proud of it. I love all my flowers too. My favorite flower I have ever had my Daddy gave me when I was 23. It is a beautiful Clematis Vine that grows all the way to the top of my house. It shows out every year. It is now 34 years old and stunning. I think Daddy is helping it along from Heaven. I am so excited, I ordered grow bags, 3 gallon ones, from Amazon today. God has blessed husband and I, I am 75 in August, he will be 80 next May. So far, I have 6 tomato plants, one cucumber hill, one zucchini hill, one yellow crooked neck, a huge raspberry plant, and 4 rhubarb plants. I mowed grass for 2 hours yesterday, self propelled rear wheel drive mower, no driving one for us yet😅 I ordered 9 bags, and will plant nasturtiums, and whatever else catches my fancy. Planting is later here in Oregon, but I already have the above started really good. I so appreciate your blog. My daughter and I already have your cookbook, one a piece. Pickled peaches are my next project from it, when they get ripe here in Oregon. My daughter is making the chicken and dumpling recipe. I also love the fried apple pies. I made rubarb and strawberry hand pies yesterday. Keep blogging and God Bless Grammie Joyce in Oregon Note: I'll have to forego the poke sallet recipe, since I don't have any. You might tell Jim that there's another toxic chemical in the poke, as the Vitamin A is normally good, unless it's in toxic amounts. The toxin is phytolacine. I also rinse mine three times and boil them three times. Then the hot bacon grease and chopped onion. Tipper, I found some poke sallet festivals online, but none in North Carolina.

Tipper, I’ve already commented in this video. Hope it’s ok to chime in twice. But I just felt I had to say more. You are a kindred spirit my friend, and how I wish we were neighbors. I wonder if you know what a comfort you are to countless people. These are troubled times. You don’t get political and you don’t often refer to it. But your messages convey such a sense of comfort, hope and peace, which so many need right now. And I just know they are grateful. What a treasure you are. I know how busy you are. I know what it takes to have gardens such as these. It is so sweet you take the time to make videos and to inspire others. 💕

Having our grandsons living here has been wonderful. They each have a little cardboard box. They each have a zucchini plant growing. They helped grow strawberries and I let them eat every one. Last night we kicked several peas. They didn’t even make it inside. They devoured every single one! Even if I don’t get a big harvest, watching their wonderment and their accomplishments is worth every little thing we do grow.

I so enjoyed the tour of your garden, Tipper. Everything looks wonderful. Our garden really needs some TLC. It’s growing well but so is the grass. Since Mama recent illness, I’m at the nursing facility everyday with her & my garden is being sacrificed. This year we discovered peaches on a tree that had never made any before. I spotted them while mowing a few weeks ago. Last Saturday we picked almost a bushel of peaches !

Thanks for the tour Tipper! Everything looks so lush and green! I can taste the green beans cooked with some bacon and little new potatoes or peas! I like them with a few slices of tomato and some green onions along with some good cornbread. Those purple peppers might be nice with them, too. I don't know what they taste like but they're so pretty they have to be delicious, and maybe some kilt lettuce. That would be all I need for a great meal!

That orange lilly, which just showed, is what we call a tifer lilly in central Illinois. ❤

I haven't seen Lambs quarter in so long, my Grandma would mix it with other greens like poke and mustard greens. I just love your garden. I love your channel and the family. It's so comforting to be reminded of my family. Thank you to all of you all .

Yeah - garden tour! That is a lot of plants. Don't pull your volunteer toms, just snip off at the ground. So, you don't disturb the cucumbers. Love lamb's ear. So soft. Read native peoples used the leaves like a band-aid. The little orange poppy here is called a California poppy. Cannot wait for more updates. It is such a blessing to have a garden. I have plants in pots. You are right. Just grow something.

Those ORANGE flowers that grow along the side of the road and that you featured near the end of the video are called TIGER LILLIES. They're also EDIBLE.

Marigolds help keep critters away and I always loved the yellow and orange color

Nasturtium is one of favorite Flowers 💐 ❤❤

The orange poppy looks like a California Poppy ❤our state flower!!!

Your grape plant is actually "the common grape" VITIS vinifera AKA as the wine grape or the European grape. It is native to most of Europe and has a long history of cultivation mainly for wine, but can be eaten just for the grape, raisins and also jellies and juice. It is cultivated in most of the US with the exception of the West coast states where it is considered an exotic. Carbon dating in eastern Europe has traced the wine grape back to 6000 years BC.

At the 35:43 when you discovered the plant was a lily, we’re here in southern Virginia, call that a ‘ditch lily’ because you will see them growing in ditches. My very dear friend and fellow flower gardener Sandra Lambiotte who passed away, recently, told me ‘every self-respecting Southerner should have ditch lilies in her garden. I love it I have them in my garden too. ❤

Such a beautiful garden! And your flowers are so pretty! I do miss growing a garden and feeding the family with the harvest, it is such a wonderful feeling to be able to grow your own food, and nourish our bodies with what we've grown. You know it's in our nature..after all wasn't Adams job to grow, work and til the garden? It is truly a blessing to be able to watch the growth, tend it and finally be able to actually feast on it. My favorite things from the garden are rattlesnake beans, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and squash, and zucchini. So many more but those are my favorites! Good morning, I think your garden is beautiful and so varied. I wish I could send you all the Lambs Quarter I pull every year. My grandma used to send my little sister and I foraging for Lambs Quarter, Polk, and Sour Dock. She boiled it on her wood stove and it was delicious.I’m 74 and am so thankful to be gardening and I have taught my daughter about Lambs Quarter. I sometimes just eat it when I’m weeding. I have put it with my lettuce when I wilt it. You have a blessed day❤️

So excited to see your garden. Its beautiful. I like how you have it in different places. When I was a kid, I didn't appreciate it as much as I did/do the older I got/get. My mom and dad didn't just have gardens they had fields. I guess as a kid I took it for granted. Although the work was hard I wish I could go back and appreciate it so much better. So many good memories. One memory was when my dad would turn the ground, he would attach an old car hood to the tractor and my sister and I would stand on it, along with cinder blocks he had on it, and it would bust up the big dirt clods, that was so much fun. Can't wait to see your next garden update. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm not able now to have a garden so I'll just watch you with yours. Have a blessed day. Tipper your garden is amazing, and I'm pretty sure everyone's going to be excited when its harvest time.

It is so lovely I could sit there all day. I can't grow big veggie beds as I used to but I have strawberries, raspberries, blackberrys, apple tree, blueberry bushes, a few little box planters with salad stuff and my little greenhouse packed with tomatoes. I have been out there this afternoon and the perfume coming off so many plants was wonderful. I was having to move a few big plants and containers from around the fish pond as my son is going to empty it tomorrow, dig it out bigger and put a new liner in (without a leak). There are big containers everywhere for the fish big and small, newts, frogs and all the plants. It should make for an interesting day. Like you we haven't had rain for over a week so I will be out watering this evening. Thanks for sharing.

I planted Okry and collards this year and can’t wait to see if I can cook them up to taste good since I am on the west coast. Your garden is so healthy looking. I am growing more beans this year since we really like them and I can freeze them. Trying the bush variety for the first time too. Trying new things keeps it fun but the tried and true squash and tomatoes are also so exciting. Thanks for such a peaceful and pleasant walk through your garden.

When we were doing a big garden I never thought of planting flowers in with my garden, but I wish I had, what a beautiful difference it makes. my granny always had flowers in her garden. I remember Holly hawks, maybe cosmos. They were usually tall ones, she probably had marigolds, I just don't remember ❤

Love your garden! Be careful with that lemon balm. From one small pot of lemon balm I planted 4 or 5 years ago, it is now all over the back yard, in every planting bed, in every space it can find. It will really take over, and it's hard work to try to dig it all up and get rid of it (which you can't).

Tipper, I thought of you today. I walked into my local public library, and on the table in the center of the room was a box of free small tomato, pepper, and marigold plants. I picked up a tomato plant to look at the little identifying tag, and it was a Tommy Toe! You know that I took it right home and planted it! I'll think of you again when I'm enjoying my handful of tiny tomatoes.

Thank you!!! I just got my cookbook. It made what, otherwise, would be a dreary time in the dungeon, AKA the laundry room in my building, a more pleasant time. It also made me hungry. I roasted some green beans a few days ago, and ended up eating the whole pan!

Wow the daylily was so beautiful. The ones along the road is not as pretty as the one you found in the woods. Thank you for the tour of your beautiful garden, I planted bush cucumbers too for the first time and I'm excited you planted some too. And as always 🙏 for Ms. Cindy and your family.

The gardens are striking and one of my favourite plants is the Hyssop which will send out spikes of purple flowers - so wonderful to make teas (good for coughs) and just a great-looking plant.

All looks great! It is truly a “wonderful thing”.

I thoroughly enjoyed the garden tour, so beautiful and bountiful! We were hoping so much to make it tomorrow to Roanoke, but our daughter has been sick. We ended up in the ER with her night before last and she has a terrible virus. I can't risk y'all getting sick and/or carrying it back to Miss Cindy. I hate it so bad, we wanted to come and fellowship with you and Corie (we were hoping to see Katie too but you mentioned in another video it would be you and Corie)! Tipper my husband is so excited about the nasturtiums I put all over (after seeing them in your videos) and I told him they're not only edible, but apparently very good for you. I told him I'm pretty sure Tipper cooked with some of the greens (or put 'em in a salad) last year in one of her videos. So then he wanted to try them and like a little boy, just plucked some leaves and blossoms and ate them. He loves them! I mean he genuinely thinks they have a really complex, cool flavor. (I am not so adventurous as he is, but I'm delighted he's delighted 🙂. ) Everything looks amazing there, it IS so exciting. THANK YOU! 🙌🏼 💓

The marigolds have always kept the deer and nematodes out of my garden. Doesn’t stop any other pests for me here but I’m pleased with what it does do. Plus, the blooms are pretty amongst the tomato plants . Hope you have luck with it too!

Your garden is really lovely, I planted potatoes this year does it mean they are ready when they bloom? I'm so behind,my Mike had to have surgery, I told you he hurt it,well it was a crushed disk two pieces had broken off and embedded in scar tissue from another surgery years ago, anyway,we made it home after a couple of days in the hospital,we spent our 43rd anniversary in the bed,he was really in pain and I was trying to keep him comfortable my point, isy garden isn't finished I got the metal planters like y'all got,I need some bush beans,okra, jalapeno peppers, maybe some cantaloupe,,thank you for showing your garden, you inspire me Daly, you and your whole family,thank you honey, every thing is a little crazy here,until he heals,but I'm telling you the garden, it's my Zen,so is cutting the grass at this point, y'all are included in my prayers and I do pray for miss Cindy and Granny and we'll, every one 💗 have a wonderful day and thank you for sharing your garden I'm learning through you, it's been wonderful ☮️

Tipper, your garden is absolutely beautiful! You and Matt got it out early and it looks great!. I grew up in Appalachia and I will always feel I need to plant veggies in spring because I love them! My parents always had a large garden. My father passed away before my mother did and she kept on planting the last four years she lived after my dad was gone. When she died in the summer of her early nineties, she had four rows planted! There were two rows of tomatoes and two rows of corn and beans! I was out late this evening watering my four tomato plants and one sweet pepper. They are looking quite good, but not as nice as yours! I live a few states north of your area. You are going to harvest wonderful vegetables this year and you and Matt will certainly enjoy them!

this was a fabulous garden tour Tipper....just so much growing in varying stage and having the additional raised bed area has certainly given more planting options. It all looks so beautiful! I get excited by hearing your excitement! 😄 Thank you for taking us along.

We call those Tiger Lillies … the orange and yellow striped plant at end of video. I think they are bulb plants … not sure.
