What touched me very much was the attitude of Safia’s parents. Her mother was more supportive but her father clearly respects his daughter’s decision. I’m Lebanese and reverted to Islam more than 3 decades ago. I never saw any of my family members after I told my parents that I was Muslim. My father told me I was dead and even when he died recently, I was never told. I found out via social media and his obituary stated that he was an adoring husband and father to my brother. My name was never to be mentioned. I found that even more difficult than being told I was dead, that my parents had no daughter. It hurts but I couldn’t possibly choose my family over my din. I hope this sister is even happier now. It’s wonderful to see so many people accepting Islam and by the grace of Allah, he will keep us on sirat al mustaqim and grant us jannat al firdaws. Please read the advice of an educated Pakistani. Read books on history. I am British revert myself and while Shana feels judged I dont think she realizes the way the muslim women are judged... Islam is not just any religion, its the only religion accepted by Allah - the Almighty God as he mentioned in his last revelation - Qur'an... and we are called muslims as the word means the one who submitted themselves completely to the will of Allah. So if you do not submit yourself, how are you a Muslim?? "Haya" is big concept for which English word modesty is used. Why on earth should women be showing themselves. They should have Haya which makes them more beautiful. Haya means a lot to us. I used to think that if Haya was to abandoned by the world, Afghans will be the last people to abandon it which I believe won't happen. There are Muslims who are mainly Muslims by name and behave exactly same way as non Muslims! The parents to blame in prioritising careers, or wealth and when highly educated Muslim parents move to nicer area where mainly white people live, the parents feel embarrassed and try to integrate but in the wrong way by imitating white people culture and so called civilisation, and that's wrong! Muslims have no obligations to change their appearances, and lifestyle to please others! And Muslims don't expect non Muslims to change their appearances and lifestyle when living for example in Dubai! Yes most Muslim countries would expect some modesty in wearing clothes or kissing in public, touching and fooling like in the West, but believes and culture in general not stopped if non Muslims whish to live Muslim countries!!!

We got some strong Muslims around the world. May Allah keep us safe. May Allah make easy on the Muslims.

Maybe to be buried in a muslim graveyard. Some reverts put in their will they want to be buried the muslim way and provide their certificate as proof of their faith, so that ppl in the muslim community will step in to help them get their death wish respected (some families are against their kids reverting so they are unwilling to book muslim funerals). I think it's quite common those days. Besides when u think about difficulties some reverts may face when marrying into families where prejudice and culture are put higher than the actual religion, it's good to be able to show them ur revert since X amount of time to shut their mouth a bit. That being said, my brother married a revert and there are NO certification involved.

Im glad, towards, the end, that Shana is realizing the things. Before commenting on her. Im born muslim, but not up to the mark. I pray, namaz and leave sometimes for a day or two sometimes even more. The moment i realize, i feel sad and disheartened, I would rush back to Allah again. Its really hard to control ones nafs(conscience), as the hearts always slips from one position to another. Its even mentioned in Quran. May Allah strength my iman(faith), as the reverts have. Mostly i just have seen revert men. But when i see women, its surprised me even more. That kind of faith Allah wants. That his creation would be pious and when slipping turn back to him again. Love converts from bottom of my heart. Allah bless all of us, we are so weak. Aamin. By the way, i love convert scholars, eg. Yusha Evans, Abdul Rahim Green, etc. To name a few.

Wallahi I also have the same weaknesses. And I pray so hard to stick to 5 prayers but it is hard when you live far away from mosque. When I used to live near mosque in my childhood to adolescent I never miss a prayer, in fact I was muadhin. May Allah guide us through the right path

@@prinncessizzy The issues surrounding sexuality are very clear and explicit not only in the Quran but in all the other Abrahamic faiths. If some one wants to cherry pick parts and misinterpret what are very clear pronouncements and prohibitions in the Quran then that will be between them and their Creator. What they should not then do is try to misguide others or twist the clear ayah (verses) of the Quran. Each soul will ultimately answer for their own deeds.

I love the way the narrator says that the shahada is saying “Allah is the only God, and that Muhammad is his messenger” when it actually says that Muhammad is his FINAL messenger because we believe in the Prophets of Judaism and Christianity, too. They never miss an opportunity to falsely report things to make Islam seem divorced from Western beliefs, so it’s no wonder that so many Christians and Jewish people don’t realise that Islam is the same faith with but with one extra prophet.
