The way that women are treated when they show signs of aging, is absolutely shameful. Growing up, my (very controlling) dad would force my mom to wear micro mini skirts, tiny shirts, and stiletto heels - all the time. She was a stunning woman, with beautiful waist length hair and an hourglass figure. Even after having 5 children. I remember her having to wear these things while she was nursing newborn babies. All the while, my father had a spare tire. It was so ridiculous. I'm almost 40 now and my dad still tries to tell me how to look. I think that's why I choose to wear jeans and a t-shirt - just to spite him lol.

I did all these but the trouble is, I suddenly got used to being all by myself, flying like a free bird and enjoy a life that I've deprived myself with while trying to survive in that barren relationship before. It's only worth it if another person is trying hard for you too. And if you are not shallow you don't care about things like weight as a turnoff (if you are a man or a woman), only about health aspects of it. He's right. I dated a guy for 5 years; I thought we were on the right path. Wrong. I needed to address issues after year 1. He was so nice, we never argued, but things didn't progress to a ring. Then when I brought up engagement; because I waited longer, it made the conversation worse. You need to have relationship goals, and he needs to meet those goals. And if you have kids, keep up a "date night". He's right about the social life. I did things with his family, his brother, and his friends; thinking I was making myself more of his life. It was opposite. I needed to do less of that until we were actually "family, committed". I needed to have my own time, my own interests.....and keep him at bay sometimes.

I absolutely believe in that statement. I also believe more that no one will love or believe in you if/until you love and believe in yourself.

These tips make a lot of sense. It'd be difficult not being appreciated by a partner. He shows appreciation and does things for me/buy things for me etc bc he loves me. Not because he is scared of me leaving him. That is a real man. I m the one who is putting 110% of efforts in the relationship.. I m the one who always says yes when he wants to meet no matter how many lies I need to make at job. I always came whn he asked to meet. But the time when efforts were required from his end. His reaction nd behavior were unacceptable.. Yes guys! M being taken for granted again in my 7 yrs relationship for loving nd taking care of him more, for putting extra efforts and for always being there for him. We love each other and he is very loyal nd trustworthy but he never shows efforts when it's required. And also m not beautiful. He is handsome, I m lil fatand I hv myopia. But he accepted the way I was. Now things are going worst.

@@nkem4real773 be so busy with things you enjoy you forget he didn't call you. Fill your to do list and complete the task so if he comes home late he's not even on your mind. Go hang with cool friends or do something you like alone without him. The trick is to be so mindful with your life he is not on your mind at all. When your not thinking about him he will know and do things to try and get back on your mind. But only let him in if he's doing things that show he cares.

As man, I agree with him 100%. That's something exactly happens to me after 24 years of marriage. I finally respect and pay attention to my wife after I felt I am about losing her. This guy is genious.

I have done this. I quit asking him why he was pulling away. Now, I do want I want and spend weekends with friends. He did not like it when he texted me and I didn't respond. He just said, you spend more time with your friends, but not once did he try to make time to spend with me. So, now I think, he doesn't care if he loses me or he feels he already has lost me, and doesn't try to win me back. Whatever his reason, he doesn't realize how close to walking away, I really am
