Loved how the kitchen turned out. You're making great progress on your large dugout.

When I was raisin' my boys, we had a log cabin in the woods with a wood burnin' stove in the kitchen for heat and cookin'. The toilet was down the path, outside, ( no septic /lime ). Had a big galvanized tank on the outside porch for water for a kitchen sink. Really 'rustic' .We carried in our drinkin' water in big old water cans with lids and a spigot. In the winter, the water would get ice crystals over night . Later it was all upgraded with another room, plumbing, septic, separate wood burning Ben Franklin, shower, toilet...etc. So glad we had that first challenging experience; it made us appreciate the upgrades that much more. Western New York. We had a outhouses se on the far side of the garage. Still had to walk through the drifted snow behind the car. My parents finally got a septic system installed in 1971. I know that seems a lil n time ago be with 9 kids it was an improvement!

Great job! Glad to see that you are giving the logs a good coating. It will be easier to clean and also help keep bugs out. All you need is a dish soap container attached next to the sink. Looking good Alex!!

Alex, the house looks great! The kitchen you made fits perfectly. Did you make the bear plaque yourself? It is a nice addition. Was happy to see your friend there with you, just makes the work seem easier having someone to occasionally talk with, plus he is almost as good a cook as you. That’s a big plus. Hello everyone

Excellent progress of work being done. It's starting to look like a palace. I honestly would rather live a life in a nicely built dugout like this in a secluded forest location, only having to travel to town for supplies or for employment reasons. Having a nice sized garden, canning vegetables for the winter. Some enclosed rabbit hutches and a secure chicken coup, smoking and drying meat also for winter supplies. The closer to nature we live the better our lives can be. Happier, tranquil, serenity, peaceful and healthier. Every clear night gazing through a telescope at a pitch-black sky with bright stars. I'd much rather be distracted by wildlife instead of being disturbed by noisy neighbors or someone playing crappy music with the volume up.
