First Overnight in a Bothy | Moel Prysgau

In December, I decided to take my friends out on a hike and bothy camp in mid-wales. None of us had stayed in a bothy before and the hunt for it was exciting, especially because we'd decided to go in the snowy season! We made the hike in four hours along the forest tracks and found navigating by OS map to be really straightforward. Highly reccomend visiting Moel Prysgau, tucked away in the woods nearby the Strata Florida Byway.
I think I'd like to visit the majority of the bothies in Wales by the end of 2023 (although definitely need to invest in a better sleeping mat!) so be sure to subscribe to the channel if you''re interested in following along!

As a guy, 44 years old, with ptsd and depression from Denmark Scandinavia, this is such a relief and inspiration to watch... Thansk for bringing us along🙏

Excellent. The snow looks beautiful. So nice people leave things behind and share. Nice you could play cards and relax together. I've been to 3 bothies recently, going to this one soon. Thanks for the vid. Really enjoyed it. 👍

Nice content of a special place. However, cutting down a trunk even though it may be starting to rot is not the widest thing to do. As it is habitat for the bugs who live in standing rather than fallen wood.

It was so nice to arrive to a clean bothy with firewood dry and ready to be chopped! Was happy to leave it in the same manner :)

Bothy's are great. Sadly abused sometimes 🤬From the Thumbnail I thought it was Roughside Bothy in Northumberland. Stayed there a few times. Hammocked in a room on my last visit. Hope your friends caught the bug 😉😉

As with anything open to the public, some respect it and some dont.. We had a good time and I think my friends enjoyed themselves, but would like to go back next time in the warmer months! 😂

Guess it depends on where you live. 300 acres of forest around me. Seen enough snow to last a lifetime.

Shame really, the place used to be way nicer, had plastic white chairs, table wasn't broken and more.... people sadly ruined it with in a few years.... 😢even the bridge was destroyed by vandals!

I really enjoyed your young ones adventure from a very old owl🦉 who found her first bothy in 1987, luckily it saved my life, we didn’t have apps for Bothys back then, you just tended to stumble on them when you most needed too , I’m not joking 😊 🪵🪵🪵🪵🪵

Ahhh Ellie there’s a few stories in my life, in fact a great many, especially of hills mountains and uninhabited islands, the magic I’ve seen with my own two eyes, you can’t tell people about, they lose their power, and nobody ever believes you anyway. Go well on your journeys and seek the sacred, the unseen, and only ever do what brings you joy , that way you’ll always be on track, even when it appears your not ! Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.
