I ran to one store this morning and found a $150 lamp, $100-150 backpack, small speakers for $60 and lots of Dior and Jerry Garcia ties... $40 total. One of my best days!

Great summary video! One video you may wish to make is how to make $50 profit (before taxes) each. The reason I suggest this is that it is easier to obtain for those juggling work and life and will give $1500 profit a month system (before tax) which covers most people basic utilities, and gas expenses. This is motivating for people as it is an easier goal with clear benefits. That system can then be scaled when possible. Anyway, just a thought.

This is about as close to a perfect video on what it takes to get to that $3000 a month that you will find. You can certainly research more and more on how to get there but you will return to this core blueprint. In the beginning you will probably find things around your house and storage building to list. That is indeed a great way to get started. Just understand that the things you already own were not bought with the intent to sell on eBay. This will affect your metrics to some degree but you will gain a ton of experience before you go out in the wild. Do keep some money back on what you sell for replenishing your inventory. No need to go in debt for this business. Ebay has the power to get you out of debt if done right. Think hard about your business model. I chose not to work longer than 20 hours per week. I wanted a net profit that would average $20 per item. So I had to be a little picky about what I bought to resell. (Rural Alabama) I try to find 40 items per week and list 5 items per day. This allows me to build up a draft bank. Schedule listings are now free and they are your friend. I know how much time that I put in and I have a spreadsheet that keeps up with how much I make per hour (before personal taxes). Hazards from a previous life with a high pressure job. This is a great business and Jake is laying this out for free in a well define format. Great job Jake! I think I know why you are blessed. Lots of Love from Alabama

I had a feeling the $100 a day was Gross and not Net. You mentioned personal taxes. I did Doordash, idk exactly how taxes work, but for DD, it was recommended to expect to pay about 20% to IRS. So if that's the same with Ebay, $100 net should be around $80.

  • @alabamaflip2053

@@andrewwashere82 No KZreadr can know your exact tax bracket. There are a ton of legal deduction that you are allowed to take with an ebay business that brings your taxes down rather fast and well under the rule of thumb of 20%. There are roll over deductions from previous years as well as different ways to count inventory. No youtuber can begin to guess what you will do to handle the tax side of your business. Even the type of car you use comes into play as well as using the standard deduction per mile or actual cost. Create an LLC and you start to understand why all 100 US senators have Inc. at the end of their names. If you work another full time job then many people fall in the category of a business loss on paper and actually have a net positive tax gain because of their eBay business. This can result into a tax refund because of taxes held from your day job. I stand by my comment. You will not find a better video on making $100 per day on eBay than this one. And I will add if you find a good CPA with knowledge of online sales then you will be shown how to keep most it year after year. I have never paid anything close to 20% in federal and state tax combined and I have made far more than $3000 per month.

So, if I understand this correctly, if I want to sell 10 items per day with a 1% sell through rate, I have to source 1000 items to begin with. For example, if I'm brand new to selling and my store has no items yet, I have to get to 1000 items before I sell 10 at 1% rate. Then, the next day, I have 990 items left so I only have to source 10 to get back up to 1000 and sell another 10. On average.

Hey Jake, I really enjoy your channel and the videos that you share. I sell a little of everything with an emphasis on vintage electronics and sometimes a modern component as well. I like to make a video of the electronics I sell so that people can see the item working, or to show any issues, like I sold a Marantz cassette deck as not working and made a video to show anyone who knew how to fix it what the issue was. I have gotten pretty good at making a quick one minute video in one take. There is time in uploading and such, however I feel like this might help set me apart as I don't see many sellers doing this. My question is, when you sell a VCR or DVD or car stereo deck, do you always test them, how do you test a car deck, do you ever make videos showing items working? Thanks again! Erik

I did all that in about 20 hours that I put in this week. I just did things a bit differently and I went to one thrift store twice this week instead of going to a few places that I don't normally find much stuff. 3 locations I go are pretty decent for sourcing and better then the rest of the locations. Those 3 thrift stores are good to go at least every 2 or 3 days too when I can. The flea markets here are hit and miss .. .sometimes I find cool stuff like I bought a collection of 60 comics for about 20 cents each on the Saturday before. If I could make at least $150 CND a day I would be able to not worry to worry about working anymore. I can't do that only putting 20 hours into it though and only having 5 to 10 hours of that for sourcing a week without having access to a car.

Yeah but the true profit is after all fees and taxes are deducted imo. If I sell something for $100 that I got for free... 15% to eBay and 15% to the IRS leaves me with $70 profit.

@@TunaManCornFoot you’re only paying taxes on $85 minus shipping, minus storage, minus car miles, minus poly bags, etc so it’s much less then a true 16%

@JrideFlips Everyone already knows the answer to all those questions.... they are just too lazy to put in the effort to do it so they are hoping you will tell them some magic formula that doesn't exist. on a side note.... I went thru your videos for the last 10 months and I didn't see the one where you supposed to be showing how to make 10k a month... Can you respond and put a link to that one?
