🌲 Maine tourmaline gemstone colored NORTHERN LIGHTS show 🌌 (Aurora Borealis) during Perseids Meteor Shower 🌠

Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis with the same pink and green colors as the Maine gemstone tourmaline, with many passing satellites, airplanes, and shooting stars 🌠 from the Perseids meteor shower, all over the western mountains of Maine and centered on the north star 🌟 Polaris near the top, with the Big Dipper (Ursa Major, Great Bear) on the horizon in the pink glow of this magnetic storm from the sun ☀️

Wow, the Kibby Turbine lights on the horizon put perspective to the clip
saw them in Bangor, oh say about 05 or 06. You could have read a book under them when they flashed brightest.

Kevin207 Photography Thanks Kevin. Do you live in Maine? Or were you just visiting. I have been keeping a close eye on Northern Lights this year. Any idea what KP index it has to be for the aurora to be visible in Maine? I live in MA

Yes I do live in Maine :) As far as the KP index, I either hear that there is a big solar event through friends who hear about it in the media, and hope it is a fairly clear sky. I often take a look at the 3 day aurora forecast at NOAA's space weather site on what looks to be an upcoming clear night and see if the red line of visible aurora is forecast to be south of me, and if so I set up a camera. Sometimes you get lucky, and other times the a forecast of strong magnetic storm activity ends up showing nothing. So it can be hit or miss :P .... but when it is a hit, it can be wonderful. I was just shooting the Perseids meteor shower on this particular night, and ended up with quite a show by both the meteor shower and the unexpected magnetic storm :-o :)

@@Kevin207Photography My brother lives in Kingfield on the back side of Sugarloaf, I think that is overlooking the Bigelow Mountain range (Bigelow Preserve) with the windmills on them, my brother has that view from his cottage on Jim Pond in Eustis just from a different angle. I'm from Maine and have lived in Carabassett Valley for a few years in the 70s, I'm from the coast in eastern Maine..
