Even mixed coonies exhibit these traits. I have a friend who has a mixed cat. It's nice they are moe of the dominate traits as few cats are like dogs. My coonie is 14 and she still has the prey drive of a kitten. I can play with her for hours. She definitely wants to be around me all the time guarding me. sleeps next to me even. they are exceptional emotional support cats. she knows exactly when to lay on me to calm me.

Mine has a full vocabulary of chirps, many of which I’ve learned to mimic. We talk often.

Ours is so LOUD, and he wants to be the only cat. He can't stand closed doors and yep, he loves jumping in the shower. They're great cats, but every animal (like every person) has its own personality. Please keep that in mind if you're thinking of adopting one, as it is a commitment that's supposed to be made for the entire lifespan of the animal.

My wife and I were "given one" as in the giver pulled into our driveway, and rolled down their window and tossed her out, she was so scared and it took awhile to get her comfortable with her new home. She was declawed and spayed and still nervous, she likes her new name cause we didn't have a clue what her name was. But we love her a lot, someone paid for claws and spaying and just tossed her out the window in broad daylight,they could have just knocked on our door and asked us to take her or find her a new home. She is awesome but she has trust issues and doesn't like storms. But she is one of the family now. And I can't wait to show my wife this video (I drive Semi truck over the road) when I get home for the holidays

Declawing a cat is one of the cruelest things you could ever do to an animal and most vets will not perform this procedure because it’s so incredibly inhumane

@@bneemr251 yes I agree, she is a abandoned cat, her previous owners declawed her and spayed her then decided to throw her out of their van instead of asking us to find a home in broad daylight,my wife was too shocked someone had done that and while she was trying to catch her they back out of our driveway and sped off, she is a shy thing and very sweet, I have grown very attached to her, she gets along well with our other cats, It's been a while since she came, she has a buddy (female cat) and they are best friends.

My family has a Maine Coon mix who we rescued from a shelter. She was born stray/feral and has several disabilities. She doesn't care to be around most people, but as a person who has formed a special bond with her, I can say that she's secretly very sweet. Loves belly rubs, which is rare for cats. She also purrs like a motor. Love my special girl!

Love my Main Coon, he is so laid back and loving. When he thinks it is time to bite, but,never hard I give him a hurt mew and he stops. He sometimes hides for awhile but we both need our alone time. He loves it when I sing soft kitty to him and I find he relaxes and lets me brush him all over, when he normally just grabs the brush to use as a toy. Very unusual cat,he is very large and is only going into his 8th month. oh yes I taught him to fetch a rubber picky ball and he loves it and never fails to lay it at my feet, tho some mornings I wish I had never added it to his games

Our Maine Coon loves communicating with us, she loves playing with water and likes playing fetch (picking up candies and bringing them to us to throw it again). She's the loveliest cat ever 🥰

My HUGE maine coon (28 lbs) sleeps down by my feet. That is VERY important in northern Michigan winters =) He's a rescue kitten, an alpha male and very dominant. Sometimes he turns into "Bitey Kitty" and sinks his teeth into my arm when we play. HE didnt learn the golden kitty rule of *How hard can you bite your friends and keep them your friends* He chirps a lot and will bring me 2-3 mice a year GREAT cats...they are like labradors and retrievers.

My mom found a tuxedo cat last year, it was in the middle of the road. She decided to pick it up and drive home. It was my job to care for it. As it got older we realized he was bigger than our adult cat, that's when we found out that it was part Maine coon. He is really playful, really really playful. He is also chubby, we weighted him and he was ten pounds, and he's still really young! And as I'm writing this he is in my room sleeping next to me.

Had ours for 3 months now and he is wonderful. most chilled cat I have ever seen

Pretty much my experience since bringing one in after ~3 years living outdoors 24/7. Lap cat, no. Wants to be with his peeps, always. Food obsessed, absolutely and that's when meowing (trilling?) gets going. Cleanliness, to a fault. Fierce, ask the full size dogs/raccoons/other in my neighborhood who give this big cat a wide path. Able to withstand a tough fight, you wouldn't believe the damage I saw on him when he was free roaming. Gentle, absolutely until mid morning when just a little wild sets in. Sleeps the night, yep silent until about 5AM. Loving, absolutely no doubt, always wants to touch noses with you like a dog. Love bites, yes I needed this to stop, yikes. Would I get another, in a heartbeat.

Totally. When Leo was wild he had already chosen my yard as his territory. I once saw him fight a huge black cat and Leo kept dragging him back in the yard to fight some more. I kept telling him to stop..he stopped when the cat finally was able to leave the yard and Leo knew his food was safe

I have a 4 month old Maine Coon kitten (Rebee) & a 10 year old Ragdoll (Stormee) (both girls). The Kitten constantly wants to play. My Ragdoll plays with the kitten sometimes, but Stormee feels the kitten goes to far. Their chemistry is so cute. Rebee is just learning and is so much fun. Stormee likes to play with toys, but Rebee takes over everything. So now Stormee likes to lay around and just be beautiful. I have to pet & play with her separate. I just love both of them. My Fur Babies 💖💖

I’ve had and loved cats all my life but my Maine Coons are the best thing that ever happened to me. Don’t know what I’d do without my boys, Vincent and Romeo. 😄

They are demanding of love, affection and food ! Lots of food Mine used to chew on Window blinds when she didn’t get attention 🤣

My Maine Coon had four homes before I got him because he used to bite if your hand smelled like food but I finally got him broke of that with a whole lot of treats and patients

My Luca naps on my lap after dinner every night after his 10 minute love fest. Isla and Pheobe absolutely love to be held. Maybe they were raised differently 🤔

My male Maine Coon will pick fights, but mostly when another cat is in his way of getting my attention. He is also very much a lap cat. He cuddles with the other cats a lot though. The female is more aloof, likes just a little bit of pets, and not much to do with the other cats.

This personality is so accurate. My female tabby is so aggressive and mean to other cats and attacks dogs. My MC just goes someplace private until she calms down. When she gets mad when he lies down beside her, he's completely unaffected. He's like oh you're leaving? Gonna go eat? I'll meet you at the food

My Schubie was always with me ,as soon as I sat down he'd lay full length and most times fall asleep. He's been gone over 30 years ago and I still miss my best friend.

Ugh mine meows and he SCREAMS for his supper, as well as sings - yes he purrr sings too, and he defends our property like Rocky defended his title🥊 Plus my other 2 cats also follow me to the bathroom lol, so it's definitely a cat thing/ unique family dynamic🚽😭🙈

I have a large brown mackerel tabby who Is suspect is 1/4 Maine Coon. Luxurious and unusually soft and dense medium-length coat, traces of ear tufts, and tufts of fur between his paw pads. He loves everyone, and is perfectly gentle; he'll never claw or bite hard no matter what. He trills sometimes, too. He did have to learn how to defend himself against my crazy Siamese girl, but once he realized he could knock her down with a single swat (9 pounds vs. 15 pounds) she largely left him alone. He was still growing a bit when I got him at age 2, and matured into a gentle powerhouse.

We have 2 Main Coons. Freddie and Ozzy. While Ozzy does not meow a lot, Freddie is very vocal especially when he wants to play. His "Meow" has a definite "H" sound to it. It is "MeeeHooowww" sound. They do have a lot of the characteristics that are talked about in this video. Ozzy will sit on my lap when he is in the mood for a good pet session. Freddie will want attention first thing in the morning when I am getting ready for work but then he is not so needy when I get home. Ozzy will tolerate you holding him for about a minute or so, then he is done with that. Freddie will ley you hold him for about 0.0000000000001 seconds, then he is done with that. They will be 2 years old in October. So, they are young still. We are very happy with these cats!

Ours is named Melo, he is 3 yrs. old & amazing in so many ways, he is the King of our household.

I have a 13 month old MC called Q. He’s heavily bonded to me and my daughter, but not my son or partner. He literally has nothing to do with them! He isn’t a lap cat but is usually found curled up next to my feet! He loves to play and will perform tricks for treats. I’ve taught him to sit, high 5 and beg! He’s also leash trained, but I get a few odd looks when people notice it’s a cat on a lead and not a dog!

We have this cat that looks exactly like a small Maine Coon except for the ear tips aren't there. She's obviously half, since her sister from the same litter in black and white and her mom was grey... She is freaking adorable, but seriously stupid sometimes. This video definitely doesn't describe her very well, but actually, no typical description does. She loves to lie next to me in bed, she LOVES my lap, that's where she purrs the loudest, and leaves promptly when she's done. But she's also very chatty, has lots of interesting unusual sounds, doesn't like close proximity to any other cat, including her sister and will actually hiss at her if she suddenly gets too close. She has gotten into some scraps with neighbor cats that visited the yard too. Guess she's just special, she's our Poofy Poof.

My Maine Coon is just over a year old, he is possessive over all his toys and his very large cat tree, our other cat isn't allowed to play with anything of his. Not to mention they meow, trill, chrip, & scream all day & night long. He is a very needy and loving boy but will bite the crap out of you if he thinks your petting has turned into playing.

I had a cat that was very sweet and friendly cat. He was an American shorthair red tabby cat. He acted like a dog trapped in a cat’s body. He was a big cat. He was my cat for the longest time. He got along with my family’s first cat,too. He was very gentle cat.

Loki the Maine Coon Cat: sometimes I eat my wet and dry food with my right paw. My hooman tries to take my picture with her camera when I do this and I always stop when I see her pull that thing out. I like to sit on my condo and watch the neighbors. I've called 911 on them a couple of times. They deserved it. I follow my hooman from room to room sometimes. Nothing much bothers me. I supervise the maintenance guy when he comes in to do repairs. What? Somebody has to do it.

Would agree except for the running off talk. We have a older 30 lb. Female. I have seen her chase a bulldog off. Cutting his corners until next to him; to our amaze claw him at a full run. She rules around our house and field next to our house. She is undefeated; numerous times has come home covered n another cats fur. Or enough had to look twice. I love it. When she steps out. Onto our porch. She will start whipping her tail while it is kinda circular -@ the end. Makes me think of Lion King; she is overlooking her territory.

I should have gotten a Maine Coon I have a 15 year old Bengal. Love her to death but she's LOUD, always screaming or yowling to play. She is a cuddler though. Doesn't even wait until I'm sitting all the way before she hops on my lap.

Mine meow at me all the time, and later in life you will notice they understand english quite well!!!

I have 3 newbrns at 20 days young! Ive had previous littrs of different breeds of common tabbys, calicos, ect. But these 3 Coons are very different in size besides them being very much like puppies of being extremely curious being barely born of 20days. They also use their paws alot of expressing, feeling out , mimimicking my finger gestures when getting their attention. They respond to my calls like puppies needeing to be near.

Beautiful as he is? My Maine Coon won’t look in the mirror. He’d rather watch me. All day long! Vanity is not in their job description for them. They’re super smart. Because they’re gentle, they get compared to dogs a lot. No offense to dogs but I think they’re much more sensitive, intuitive. Jiff is my second one. My first one, Pudd’nhead Wilson lived a loooong time.

This is a very accurate description of my cat's personality, except she is not a Maine Coon. We are suspecting she might have some Maine Coon ancestors though. She's a large cat and she does have these cute tufts at the tips of her ears. She's really the most amazing cat personality you can imagine. Whenever I take a shower, she'll wait in front of the open door, staying dry but making sure I don't drown or something. As soon as I step out of the shower, she'll purr and lick water driplets from my hands and arms,showing me how glad she is to have me back alive. When I'm sad she'll lay down next to me. When I'm stressed she avoids me, turning to my husband instead (who just happens to be a very calm person). I'm so lucky she came into my life 😻

i have a MC, a miniature Schnauzer, a poodle & i can assure you that they do get along really well. Even though sometime the Schnauzer annoyed MC but She just chill out & mind her own business. Well, sometime she smacked that Schnauzer in the face, that because he really deserved it by biting her tail lol. Other way those dogs know she is the real queen in the house. XD

We found our Maincoon on accident, human society. I had never heard of them before. Had I known he was going to be a fluffy orange dog like terrorist……I would have thought it through more. 😂 I’ve always had cats, these are 100% different. Before we found out what he was, we thought he had some mental issues. 🫣 Love him, but SOOOOO much work!! Like having another toddler, no joke!

My sister-in-law’s Maine Coon has gotten in trouble with the police because he attacked pit bulldogs that were (in his opinion) trespassing in his front yard. Twice. So I don’t know about that claim that the cats aren’t aggressive and won’t fight back. This one appointed himself the guard dog of the household. He isn’t aggressive with people, but he wants other animals to keep their distance.

My maine coon will literally roll into my hands and purr when I pick her up, but she is also a very weird cat.

I miss my babies. 🥰🤗🤗😪 I have real life experience with cats. I want to share my connection with kitties.

Nope...our cat pick fights with others and our other cat...fur flies...we live in a complex and have had many complaints as he picks fights especially at night. He usually ambushes our other cat as well. Constantly bring mice into the house. Eats spiders, moths and the like many geckos without tails in our garden and the Tom Cruz's of the bird world knows there is a no fly zone over our property, some get cocky but not for long . Totally adorable. He adopted us just like our other cat and is very jealous. Despite all the fights and complaints we won't have it any other way. He came to live with us permanently 4 years ago when he was about 9 months old. His previous owner came to fetch him daily but within 10 min he escaped and found his way back to us again) Our other cat has been living here for 5 years and is 6 years old..maine coons are truly lovely animals even though ours don't fit the bill for docile .;)

We just got one ginger maine coon a month ago, but we already can see how intelligent they are, definitely have passion for good food 😄 so loving,caring and playful. Already booked online a playhouse for them, since curtains at home wont live much longer...ah and she already fell into the toilet once, got very curious about whats in there 🤣🤦‍♀️ so be careful ❤

Shoot I thought my cat was special lol, this vid describes her perfect. Follows me inside and outside no matter what I'm doing, can actually get annoying sometimes getting in the way but I always have a smile while she is, people tell me my cat is more like a dog. Don't know how old she is the previous owner I adopted her from thought she was about 5, I've had her for 9 more, starting to show her age a bit in the last year slowing down a bit and more careful with her jumps but overall seems in really good health

Our parking lot find must not be fully Maine Coon 😂 When he wants something, he meows CONSTANTLY and will nip my hand if I don't get up in a timely manner to wait on him like a servant. He's also an extremely picky eater -- both in flavor and texture. He likes to pick fights with the local coyote gang and refuses to stay inside for more than a day

Note: Not all MCs share the traits described in the video. My MC was a grumpy bugger and extremely territorial. He would fuck up almost any other cat that came near the house and chased one up a tree in our garden once. Even in his late teens, he'd still patrol his territory outside and still fight with other cats. However, they are smart, he knew the dog next door was tied to a post with a long lead and he new exactly where to sit just outside of the range of the dog's lead just to sit in front of the dog and taunt it. Sadly, Izzy passed away at 18 in 2003. He was a grumpy old bugger who never liked being petted, but I still miss him as he was a large part of my childhood.

Of course, I was referring to cats raised by breeders: born and raised in a safe environment, properly socialized with both people and other pets, neutered or spayed and kept indoors. These things are highly important for a kitten's development. If the cat is not born in a safe enviroment and suffers trauma, its personality will be different.

My maine coon never let's me sleep alone not one night did i spend alone and if my door is closed she meows til I open that damn door she will litterely meow the whole night I don't open the door 😂 can be so annoying but it's cute also very sweet cat

My Maine coon cat is not very playful in fact not playful at all but I still live him and give as much attention he’s amazing tho :3

Ours hates being alone. When my girlfriend go to work and she goes to her house and I stay home for him and I don't mind staying at home at all.

I would love to have a main coon cat that's my dream cat I want a all black one with gray around his or her neck
